New Ideas Going Green for our Country ,reducing waste amounts.
There are so many different ways our world can recycle ,The goal is to reduce the amount of waste ,
It is a goal shared by cities like San Francisco ,Cleveland, both larger then Gatesburg!
Most Cities have recycle cystem for many years .
Blue can for recycle ,green for woods and branches, and one for trash .
However this costs for many workers to work, and this results in tons of unnecessary landfill each year.Purchasing bins and hiring staff will cost money to state.
Recycling is a great idea .Americans already recycle at hight rate, which is around 95%.That is one of the main reasons they oppose the GatesburgGoGreen Initiativee.they want the new law to take place, the plan is simple,
Recycling is more than just a great idea, it is and must be a way of living. The way we take care of our environment is how our environment will treat us. If we do not take care of our environment, not only will our home look unfit to live in but it is unethical to leave the environment we live in unhealthy for our future. I do agree with the GatesburgGoGreen idea and reading through you will see my evidence as to why.
"Americans already recycle at a high rate, which is around 95% of lead-acid batteries and 70% of steel cans and newspapers." States, "No Recycling Laws for Gatesburg." There is never to high of a rate on how we conserve our resources. It's good to note we as a nation do well with lead-acid batteries and steel cans and newspapers, but what about all the environmentally unfriendly things that slide through our garbage into our landfill, especially the plastics.
Landfills are filling up with more and more trash every day and are expanding. Just by separating our trash everyday into plastics, cardboard/paper, cans, etc., we can minimize what we put in the landfills. Even if recycling was mandatory, I think this would help a lot. I spent some time in Germany and was able to participate in recycling more in depth. They recycle almost everything and have strict trash rules. Food that was not consumed goes in one small bin and cans, boxes, paper, etc., were sorted into separate bins as well. If you had something that was not in the proper bin or if your trash bag had something that could be recycled they do not take the trash that day. Some of the food that was not consumed was buried, the cardboard/paper, etc., was sent out to be recycled and reused. All of this helps keep Germany green and clean. Maybe we should follow in Germany’s footsteps to help keep our landfills clean of items that can be recycled and used again. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, in 2006, only 32% of the trash that was picked up was recycled in the United States. This leaves 68% of trash that is still going to the landfills and not being recycled. Although this recycling average is low, The Environmental Protection Agency hoped by 2019 the recycle percentage would reach 75%. The amount of trash that one person generates is astonishing. According to the EPA from Green Waste, in a single day 4.5 pounds is thrown out, which is about 1.5 tons of solid waste a year per person. The EPA estimates that 75% of solid waste is recyclable, but 30% is actually being
Recycling is a great idea. I think Americans already have the culture of recycle. The goal is to reduce enviromental damage, so we can have clean water and air.
Americans being forced to recycle is just bizzare. Recycling is a very smart thing to do, but being forced by law to recycle isnt the way to go. Escpecially, if americans are already recycling at a high rate without the law enforced.
Recycling is known very well to most of the United States. It has been a buzzword since my childhood in the 80's. However, many towns and metropolitans, including my home town of Savannah, have trouble getting their residents to actively participate in the recycling programs. There are many reasons people can site for not participating, some are personal issues, and some are those of the city itself. The first that comes to mind far too often is even though most solid waste can be sorted and recycled, the amount that is picked up is not even half as frequent. From a city stand point, expansion of the program itself may cause a hemorrhaging of money that can't be undone. Landfills have been an environmentally sound option for years, but they all have the same problem of finite space. On the surface it seems simple, but nothing is ever that easy. Both recycling programs and landfills cost large amounts of capital to maintain. With the goal of an environmentally stable city, landfills and their finite space will always be a problem. With vision and drive maybe the tables can be turned.
Recycling has become "mandatory" in many states and towns. Landlords can fine a resident for not following the rules of recycling. It was made official awhile back that certain things should not be sent to our landfills, such as paint cans, car parts, and any kind of hazardous materials. Americans are already recycling at a high rate.
Environmental issues have been a part of living on earth since the beginning of time. The only issue with this however, is that resolutions have only just recently been put in place. Environmental concerns have only been discussed since the last half of the twentieth century. While some small steps were taken here and there, The European Union was the first to deliberate environmental policy in an attentive and compulsory nature. The European Union has some of the highest environmental standards to date. These standards have been evolving since the Paris Summit meeting of the European Community that took place in October 1972. The Paris Summit of 1972 was the first to introduce environmental policy on such a vast scale. One outcome of the summit was a declaration on environmental and consumer policy which gave the Environmental Commission the authority to establish the First Environmental Action Programme (EAP) to implement environmental policy. An EAP is essentially a strategic policy document which reflects the fundamental elements of contemporary environmental thinking and problem perceptions, as well as strategic policy orientation. (http://wwweeborg/publication/chapter-3pdf) It is based on a proposal from the Commission, but is now subject to a full legislative procedure leading to agreement between
Why are people not recycling that should be? Well lets see, first of all the easiest of all, people are simply just not doing it! Places like New Jersey have goals that they always try to reach with monthly and or yearly recycling. Currently places like New Jersey are not reaching their goals. There are many things that places like New Jersey an do like we could put to place a law. That law would make you recycle, and if you dont then you would get fined an amount of money. Second of all, If New Jersey gets creative we could have local dispensers that we could put recycling items in and then the recycling trucks could go there! If we actually put local dispensers, then our local neighborhood and or city can work together and fix this and
Honestly speaking, when we were told about the challenge to change project my first thought was “Oh my god not another one, it’s going to be another long and boring project”. The project wasn’t as bad as I expected and my partner was great (obviously since she’s my best friend). Work speaking however, figuring out a topic was hard since we had different ideas. We then decided to compromise and came up with the idea of creating a grant proposal for littering in communities. We thought about this on our way to the library when we saw pieces of garbage in the streets and pictures online of littering in parks. Littering is something so easy that can be prevented and solved just by simply throwing the garbage in the correct place, not on the floor.
Recycling should be practiced for all states because of the waste that we pile in other societies. The lack of care to the earth and our homes will surley overcome and preduce mor garbage than we throw out. like said in the passage, landfills will overflow with the unending amound of garbage and un recycled product, wich then the higher powers of the state will try to despose of it in an unjustifyed space that could be overpopulated with trees animals and fresh resorces of water. Maybe in time some mistakes will be made and be agreed on by dumping some of this un recycled waste in the ocean, thinking that it will just sink to the sea floor and not do any harm to the species that are inhabeted in our great oceans. Without thinking of the
One of the most prominent issues in the American society is not an economic or social problem, but the lack of recycling in America and the effect it is having on the environment and the people. This lack of recycling can be found in businesses and schools across America who could benefit from some sort of recycling program installed. The benefits of a well placed and organized recycling program can be endless from scholarships to the benefits it can have on the environment by saving trees and reducing the space need to dispose all the trash. South Caldwell High School is one of these schools across the country that is at a loss because of its lack of a recycling program and many other schools and businesses in Caldwell county are not reaping
Increased recycling means less trash entering landfills. The greatest environmental benefit of recycling is the use of energy and natural resources when old materials are used to make new products. Many consider recycling an easy task. Products that become garbage have an effect on global warming, which makes recycling as a viable option. The phrase ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ was coined to promote recycling and a clean environment. Recycling is a simple way in which people can contribute to making a better world. It takes time and effort to collect, separate and send trash away. Recycling effects every aspect of our environment—homes, schools and hospitals.
We, humans, are producing waste every day, polluting and destroying our planet. To save the world, many people believe recycling is the obvious solution. It is the process of converting certain waste into a reusable material. Therefore, the recycle motto is “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle”. However, have you ever wondered why the word recycle is placed at the end? Well, it’s because it is not the only way to reduce waste and save the world from global warming. Recycling may have many advantages, but its disadvantages’ list is not a short one either. Recycling may look very simple and easy method, but when there is a need for a new unit of waste recycling, it takes up a lot of space. Not to mention the amount of money the building costs along with paying the staffs, buying new utility vehicles, upgrading the recycling unit and different types of chemical disposals. It is not only expensive but also, unhygienic, unsafe and unsightly with piles of waste materials on every location. These wastes spread infectious diseases putting human health at risk. Aside from recycling
For centuries, the world has been fervently told to “reduce, reuse, and recycle” (Grabianowski). The idea many people have is that if everyone does his or her part in tossing old homework sheets and leftover yogurt cups into big blue bins, the world will recover from the devastation of human interaction with the environment. From this standpoint, recycling would seem a savior to mankind. Unfortunately, this is not the reality of how the process of recycling works, nor what the outcome of using the system actually is. Not every glass bottle can be tossed into a bin with the expectation of it becoming a brand new window pane, and even many paper products are considered non-recyclable. Recycling is takes time and is very
