I do not belong to any veteran family or the American legion. I have always been interested in the medical field and wanted a career in this field, but could never figure out what I wanted to do. I finally decided to choose nursing as my major because it has diverse job opportunities. I am a very social person and a nursing career is a great fit for me. In addition, I love to help people in their time of need and create hope in their life. However, I have been always inspired by my aunt’s dedication towards her job as a nurse. She cares about her patients and treats them like her family members. Also, I have seen her concern about her patient’s health condition. She also has seen hope in me as a nurse and I always wanted to become like her.
One of the health professions I chose was a school nurse. What interests me about this career is how school nurse are very trustworthy and how they're able to communicate easily with student. Me, personally, I feel like I can tell them me issues and they wouldn’t be non-judgmental towards me. The school nurse provides direct care to students, provide care for injuries and acute illness for all students and long-term management of students with special health care needs. School Nurses also educate students on health care and growth development.
Since I can remember I have always had a compassion and natural desire to care for my fellow man. Now having this opportunity, I remain committed to this task. During my nursing career as a Registered Nurse, I allow myself time to grow clinically and to expose myself to a variety of health care emergency situations which continues to be very valuable to me in strengthening my career. It is very fortunate that I have the opportunity to be in a position to where I am today.
I would like to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse because I like to work with all types of people. When you become a registered nurse your job will be to arrange patient care. Also to educate the patient and the public about health conditions such as contagious viruses and diseases. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2014, 2,751,000 people got jobs as registered nurses. Also according to Bureau of Labor Statistics between 2014-2024 the amount of jobs as registered nurses will grow 16% faster than average. I am choosing registered nurse as my career goal because I am passionate when it comes to helping people.
I was born january 12, 1998 in the city of Mexico. My parent decided to come to the US to give me and my brothers a better life and to have the opportunity of a better education. The education my parents were not able to have because they had to drop out of school at a very young age to work. My parent have always told me that education is the most valuable thing in life a person could have. My father is a construction worker he always comes home exhausted and he tell me to study hard so that i won't have to work in really difficult job with a low pay.
Registered Nurse A career as a registered nurse is to, “Save one life, you’re a hero. Save 100 life’s you’re a nurse.” which is rewarding and demanding. Nurses often work hours, with day and long night weekend hours, but the demand for nurses is growing, and many nurses express high job satisfaction.
In five years I want to be employed as a registered nurse working at Ochsner Medical Center on Jefferson Hwy in New Orleans, Louisiana. I chose this specific hospital because I grew up going to this one . I'm so familiar with it, so working there would feel like home and being more convenient for me to drive out there rather to kenner. I will have to earn My Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Which will take 4 years if I'm continuing on the right path and probably about 5 and a half if I'm struggling.
I cannot attribute my desire of becoming a nurse to following the footsteps of a family member, nor caring for a sick family member as I was growing up. I am a first generation high school student, furthermore, a college graduate. I became a mother at the very young age of sixteen. Being so young and growing up without the care of my parents, it was always said I, too, would end up in a rough situation and not be able to care for my child being so young myself. I continued out my days and nights being a high school teen mom. I graduated from high school in three years by attending night school while I was pregnant; allowing me to finish school sooner and obtain a better job that would allow me to take care of my son.
Over time I have not really stuck with one thing. I have jumped from career to career, never really landed with one thing. I have thought for a long time on being a Nurse. I have also thought what was going to make me a good Nurse. Every time I think about this I can't only help to think about taking care of the new born babies and their Mommys.
As a responsible and supportive individual I have considerable experience working within the care sector caring for individuals. I am enthusiastic and feel really passionate about working in this sector. Having worked as a registered nurse and perioperative nurse overseas, and the experience I gained here in England as a care assistant in residential homes with dementia patients and adults with learning disabilities, has enable me to realise the interest and passion I have in this sector of nursing. I have a bachelor of science in Public Health that has also broaden my knowledge in some of the issues that contributes to mental health issues, which signifies my understanding of many underlying issues behind mental health problems. Since my work experience in an educational environment I have developed a passion for working with children. From working as a teaching assistant in an additional needs school I have been able to work closely with various students, some of which having profound and multiple learning difficulties, I have been fortunate enough to see the work of nurses and medical professionals who care for these children. This has inspired me to pursue a future in the nursing sector. Thanks to my work I have been able to see the small and big developments that each child is able to make.
Through experiences in my life, I have learned that I can make a real difference in the lives of other people. As a healthcare professional, I will be able to touch human lives in such a close and intimate way, that no other career can offer. I will be able to help a cancer patient to fight for their life or put a bandage on a child’s hand. I like to overcome challenges, and I want to gain more knowledge about life, the human body, and diseases. I seek a career where my compassionate and caring personality together with my thirst for knowledge will be well satisfied.
Ever since I was little I knew I wanted to work in the medical field because I’ve always wanted to help people somehow. As I grew older I knew I wanted to be in touch with my patients and spend time with them and help them understand the best ways to take care of themselves, which is why I’ve decided to become a nurse. I actually have to thank NYU for helping me figure out what I want to become as one of the main reasons I started thinking about being a nurse is because I attended an NYU Nursing Seminar and I just loved it, I felt like the nurses that were there greatly described their work and I realized that was exactly what I wanted to do. Another reason for why I want to attend NYU is because I was able to spend time on campus while attending
Most people think of a nurse as someone who takes care of someone who is sick, I believe a nurse is so much more than that. Going above and beyond for anyone that is in my care is what drives me to one day become a nurse. It’s not the type of job just anyone can do, it takes a very special person with a lot of compassion. It’s that type compassion that inspired me to become a nurse. When I was ten years old I was rushed to the emergency room.
Civil rights activist, Maya Angelou once said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. This quote by Maya Angelou explains why I want to be a nurse. Like the quote says, I want to be the nurse that a patient remembers because of how I made them feel. For the longest time, I have always been interested in the healthcare field.
As a child, I always knew that I was destined to be a nurse. I always loved helping others and over the years that never changed. I knew that being a nurse meant I would get to help others while working with medicine; however, it wasn’t until I became a mother that I realized just what being a nurse entailed. I was fresh out of high school when I became a mother. I was scared and had no idea what to expect giving birth.
