Since I can remember I have always had a compassion and natural desire to care for my fellow man. Now having this opportunity, I remain committed to this task. During my nursing career as a Registered Nurse, I allow myself time to grow clinically and to expose myself to a variety of health care emergency situations which continues to be very valuable to me in strengthening my career. It is very fortunate that I have the opportunity to be in a position to where I am today. Achieving my ultimate goal in life, which was to become a Registered Nurse on a Medical Surgical floor and being able to help people who are unable to take care of their selves was the best thing I could have ever done. Becoming a nurse has taught me so much such as being more patient, kind, compassionate, …show more content…
However, working in a learning hospital and helping newly entered residents get use to placing pertinent orders and suggesting different type of therapeutic medications to order for my patients health, I thought to myself why can’t I do this myself and be able to have the opportunity to spend time with my patients, get to know them personally and be able to prescribe the correct medications instead of telling another health care professional what to do. That’s when it all came to me, I want to strive for something more and that is getting my Masters degree and become Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. Getting into Adelphi University Graduate program will give me the opportunity to engage in promoting an optimal standard of care for patients and the community. Being Alumni at Adelphi University I know how helpful, caring and passionate all the professors and faculty staff are. I
Health care is a fundamental element to sustaining the welfare of our society. The ability to become a student in the Grand Canyon University (GCU), Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program, takes me one step closer to being able to achieve my dream of playing a vital role in helping our society towards disease prevention. My experience in the acute care setting has reinforced my passion in disease prevention and health preservation. My short term goal is to be able to successfully complete the required course work. Secondly, I want to be able to acquire the necessary certifications to be able to practice as a FNP. The program at GCU will provide me with the knowledge, and skills I will need to effectively develop my role. The long term goal I have set for myself is to reach the Doctorate level degree at some point in my career. I would like to practice at an independent level and have my own practice in
Choosing a career can be difficult, but it take time to make the right choice. I have made the decision to become a registered nurse. On this journey I know it’s going take commitment, hard work, and maybe some tears. When I tell people what I’m going to school for that ask me “ Is that really what u want to do”, my answer “Yes”. Every since I was in high school I have dreamt of becoming a nurse. I have conducted an interview with Kim McPherson (RN) to get a better understanding what a nursing career has in stored for me. Mrs. Kim McPherson is an full time instructor for nurse adie at Southeastern Community College. Before doing this interview, I always thought having a nursing job would be easy because nurses really don’t interact with the patients only when it time to give them their medicine. Once I became a certified nursing assistant, I was completely wrong. Nurses has some responsibilities such as making the right judgment calls, giving medicine on time, safe environment. I asked Mrs. McPherson a question about having a nursing career.
I want to be a nurse because I want to help people that are hurt sick or could die. I also want to be a nurse because it seems like a good job and not for the money either my mom was a nurse and i want to be like her because she is a good person and I respect her and I also would like to be a nurse because I could help lots of people and I could meet new people everyday.
Being a nurse requires more than theoretical and clinical knowledge, it also requires passion and love to people. Being a nurse is an opportunity, opportunity to make a better quality of life for other people. To become a nurse is what I always wanted since I was a kid because I have seen nurses bringing back people to life and having the opportunity to welcome new life to the world.
I do not belong to any veteran family or the American legion. I have always been interested in the medical field and wanted a career in this field, but could never figure out what I wanted to do. I finally decided to choose nursing as my major because it has diverse job opportunities. I am a very social person and a nursing career is a great fit for me. In addition, I love to help people in their time of need and create hope in their life.
Nursing offers great opportunities to make a difference and that was one of the reasons I chose to pursue a career in nursing. Nurses witness patients at their lowest point in their life and need to be able to bring their hopes up and offer support. I see nursing as a way to show compassion and understanding while serving individuals that are in need. I have wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember and many early influences just confirmed that desire.
From the beginning of elementary school through all of high school, students such as myself have been asked about our goals and aspirations in life, including our dream job when we grow up. I remember feeling really confused when someone would ask me these types of questions when I was really young because I never had a dream job that I would definitely pursue in the future. Now that I am older, I have found different categories of life and school that I find particularly interesting. I want to become nurse because I find the job appealing, I am willing to spend college learning about the practice, and I am good at science and communication.
Choosing nursing as profession has been a mission of mine since I was in elementary school when my father had his colostomy surgery. Ever since his surgery, my father had a tough recovery which involved the hospital as his second home for a couple of years and him rarely at home. In those years, I saw how the nurses went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that not only my father was well taken care of and comfortable during his recovery, but his family as well. Since then I have wanted and now want to become a nurse so I can dispense comfort, compassion, and care to the patients and their loved ones during the process of recovery. I want the opportunity to heal the heart, the mind, the soul and body of the patients and their families
The career I am focused on is a registered nurse. Registered nurses help in the hospital to the people who are sick and they also educate their patients so they are able to take care of themselves. The importance of the career I am focusing on is that you have to care for patients and you have to be able to have emotional stability. The reason it is important and interesting to me is because I like working and communicating with people, I also like being helpful.
I’ve never given any particular thought on the reason why I want to become a nurse. It has been the simple answer of “Nurse” to the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” since I was the young age of five. I knew then, that answering “mermaid” to the question was juvenile and unrealistic so I answered with the next best thing. In second grade, I begged my mom to make me my own pair of scrubs for my class’ “Career Day” because I had to be the most sophisticated nurse my classmates had ever seen, and I was. I didn’t know what it meant to be a nurse or how to become one, but I knew that it was what I wanted to be when I grew up. I have listened to a million different, wild and gory stories about my dad’s experience on being a Medic
As an advance practice nurse, I hope to provide health care to medically underserved adult populations. The shortage of advanced healthcare providers will continue to be strained as life expectancy continues to rise and success of medical treatments expands. The overburdened health care system will be particularly strained in the already underserved populations. I also hope to eventually expand my practice globally. Many of those present at the University have shown interest in these areas, and I hope to connect with them as they will provide a rich education, expand my knowledge scope, and provide insight into my areas of interest in helping me reach my professional goals. and mentorship. The wide variety of clinical practice settings available will expose me to new experiences and provide insight for me as I continue to discover my niche in nursing. I hope to continue to grow my relationship with nursing with an advanced degree from the University of Michigan - as this will provide me with the confidence and credibility I need to successfully advance as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse
As a child, I used to dream to help people because back in my country I saw many sick children’s who they live in the streets and didn’t have a place to stay when I saw that I decide to become a nurse because the career of nursing they paid well and I could afford to travel to difference places . On top of that I was always fascinated by the amount the respect and power they get from helping people and kids. But one of the most important reason to become a nurse was my mom, she died in a battle with cancer. lastly, I know by becoming a nurse, I will get stressed, but it doesn’t matter because I took a class with professor mike in psychology and I learned how to master stress and how to apply the technique’s in order to relieve stress but I also learned stress is good for a person because it’s part of being human.
My volunteer experience, at the hospital, gave me the initial inspiration to become a nurse. In addition to my scientific interests, I’ve always been drawn to care for and motivate others. During my volunteering work in Tashkent hospital, I realised how much I enjoy socialising with people, caring for them and making a positive impact in their lives. My roles included talking patients, running errands for nursing staff and observing clinical care. Assisting the staff in many procedures and reassuring the patients made this volunteer experience my most satisfying yet.
My decision to pursue a career in nursing has been shaped by my many experiences in life and strong passion towards helping others. I believe nursing is a rewarding profession where self-less individuals work together to promote patient wellbeing and safety. Nursing is a well-rounded field encompassing “advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy and in patient and health systems management, and education” (“International Council,” 2009).
I have always wanted to be a Registered Nurse ever since I was in middle school. I believe that you have to be a very warm hearted and caring person to become a nurse. Nurses help so many people every single day, and it is truly amazing what they do for others. A nurse should never be hateful or careless. I know that I could handle being a nurse. I would love to be able to help others every day as a career. I will not change very much, because I am already very caring and helpful. Therefore the main thing that will change is my knowledge on being a nurse.
