Getting ready for the big day, it was a cool summer morning, the water was like glass, mist on the water. My dad, me, and my friend launched the boat in the water ready for the state Bass Fishing Tournament, we had never been so pumped in our lives. Three!!! Yelled the director, we take off to our first spot of the morning, a spot we had done good in practice the day before. The first spot was a bust but we bounce back and get to our second spot. I throw my chartreuse spinnerbait next to some reeds in the water and next thing i know i'm hooked up!!! I yell “Matt get the net” He scoops the fish into the net and that's our first keeper of the day. Next cast I hook up with another Largemouth bass that weighed about 2lbs. I continue on the trolley
The year was 2010, I was fishing my first Bassmaster tournament on Onamia Lake. Onamia Lake was a special place the Smallmouth Bass were enormous and very abundant. It was the third and final day of the tournament, and I was in second place to Chase Polk. Chase Polk was the best angler on the series, and I was just a small hometown favorite that knew the lake. Every day in the tournament had been a spectacle of fishing never seen on Earth, which made it hard to get a lead. Polk had a 2-day weight of
“Salmon Creek beach, it was a sunny and lovely long weekend in this paradise located in California, Butch Connor parked his car, grabbed his board and came into the sand facing the sea and ready to challenge the waves, he is an expert surfer.
After that I kept thinking to myself that nothing will go right this day. After we had lunch we went back to the river and at that point I was so aggravated. I did not want to fish anymore. I kept catching these little fish and that was getting really annoying. Cherokee is supposed to be one of the best places to fish in North Carolina. They only stock fish fifteen inches or more in these rivers. Somehow I just kept catching these little fish. It was about 3:30 or so when all of a sudden I hooked into a massive fish. Right when I set the hook it came out. Most fish will not bite again if that happens so honestly at that point I wanted to be done. For some odd reason something told me I should throw there again. Right at the same spot it hit again. This time I made sure to not let it get off. I never knew this would be the biggest fish I have ever caught. Also never knew it would be a six minute fight. This fish was huge compared to any other fish I have ever caught. I finally got it in the net and I knew after this terrible day still something good could happen. It was the biggest rainbow trout I have ever laid my hands on. I learned a life lesson that
When the line hit the water, almost instantly my bobber had disappeared under the water. This was it, I lowered my pole as I reeled up the slack in my line. I kept thinking "Just catch this one and you'll feel better about all this." With a sudden jerk and some quick reels on the old rod the line went slack. I had missed the fish. What could of been the only bite of the day, I had messed up. Feeling quite ill after the miss, I reeled up my line and baited my hook and casted it back into the water.
This fishing rod has helped me catch plenty of fish in my life but I had no idea that I was about to be able to catch as many fish as I did. I packed the fishing rod into my truck and went down to the lake. Once I got to the lake I unpacked and got set up for fishing. I got my rod and my worms and began to try to catch a few fish. I had no idea that I was about to catch a lot of fish on this particular day. After about 15 minutes I felt a tug on the rod. I pulled up a nice size fish. This was by far the quickest that I had ever caught a fish. I placed the fish in the bucket. I didn’t expect to catch another fish for the rest of my time out there but what happened next surprised me. About 30 minutes later I caught another fish. This one was even bigger than the last one that I had
Kennady Peters and I have been best friends ever since the age of two when we were in the same pre-school class. During our sophomore year of high school, we were inseparable. There were times where Kennady would stays for days at a time at my house. We would play video games, watch movies, or just talk and hang out.
It was a fun trip we went we did a lot of things. We also went to a 127-year-old brewery on the trip. Then last weekend we went camping at my grandma’s and grandpa’s house. I caught the same bass 3 times in two days in a row. The 3rd time it took my hook for the last time. Now I want the fish dead so I can eat it. It was a largemouth bass I
My sister and I have always been very adventurous and outdoors oriented. Surrounded by a large quantity of land, we had limitless opportunities to play games and have escapades. One of my favorite memories however, was making a secret clubhouse by a stream running along our yard. Although we did have a swingset and tons of toys, that was our prefered place to spend time.
I t was my first day on the job as a coast guard. My experience that day is one that I would never forget. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was going on a mission to save a girl trapped on a boat next to a bridge.
Fishing is an activity I have enjoyed doing ever since I was a little kid. In fact, one of my first fishing voyages was with my grandpa when I was about eight years old. He was an avid fisherman who went fishing almost every day and knew everything there was to know about fishing. Grandpa got me hooked on fishing. After Grandpa died, my dad picked up where Grandpa left off. We had a pontoon, and Dad took my brothers and me fishing whenever we had the chance. To this day, I still love fishing just as much as I had on my first fishing trip with my grandpa. Many people enjoy hobbies that are relaxing and peaceful, and others prefer exhilarating activities that never have a dull moment. I enjoy fishing because it has some of both.
One nice day last summer my father and I decided to go fishing. We left early in the morning, crossing over Niagara River on the ferry.
At the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009, it felt as though I had ten consecutive sore throat/cold illnesses. As soon as I got well from one, I’d catch another. I think one of them may have been swine flu, as that was around the time of a major epidemic. I was so run down, it seemed, that my immune system didn’t have the means to fight every new strain of the cold virus, or anything else.
I sat at the table enjoying my banana that quiet morning when my dad’s voice pierced through the stillness.
When I is was younger I used to go to the beach with my grandfather to crab fish. Crab Fishing had always been my grandfather's specialty and he was ready to pass that on to me. My first day out on the water I could not crab fish for I was scared of anything that lurked under the rocks. The next day, my grandfather told me that I was to catch at least one crab by the end of the day. So I went on and waited until the last minute to lift up a rock and hunt whatever was under. I was not ready to defy my grandfather's crab fishing religion and so I took my chances and lifted the ponderous rock my minescule muscle could handle. I as watched the grey murky water clear out I saw the brobdingnagian monster crab and snathced him as swiftly as possible.
The first time i went to Lagoon i was scared to go on the colossus and i did not want to ride it again. But i did do it at the end of the day so then it was my favorite ride until we went again that same month. This time the first ride my dad wanted to ride was the Cannibal and i was really scared to go on this ride. When we got in the line for the ride you could see the really big loop and that made me really nervous and i wanted to leave the line.
