We Three Kings Daycare was the venue in which I chose to complete my field work. Luckily for me, my mom is one of the employees and so gaining access, setting up a theme, date, and time was one of the easier aspects of this project. The group, my mom, is typically responsible for ranges from 8-11 children ages six through eight. Due to the slightly older age group I was working with. I forego beginning with a song partly because I could not find anything relatable to my theme, and also because I planned on doing my story time after they had come in from playing outside. I figured outdoor play would be enough exertion to keep the jitters at bay. Gathering everyone in a circle, I introduced myself and had everyone go around and tell me their
As I step out onto the field I smack in the face the aroma of the freshly cut grass. I get the sense of being home after a long trip away. It’s great to be home where I know I have fans that will cheer us on. The grounds crew is out working on the field to get it ready for the game later tonight.
This day was busy, but I was able to help out more by checking patients in and checking them out this time around. Felt a lot more comfortable with the system and interacting with the clients and their pets. This was my last day working in the front, I enjoyed working with Leonore and the rest of the staff in the front but, I am very excited to work in the back to get hands on experience working with the technician’s and the doctor’s.
I chose to break the norm of either smiling at strangers or giving them a neutral look when you make eye contact. I decided to give every stranger I passed a confused look like they had just spoken to me in another language. I must admit, this made me feel a bit goofy. I was on the fence as to whether or not to do this in the first place but I decided I just had to. The responses I received were quite comical. A few people asked if I was alright, and one person even asked if I had a problem with them.
In this era when collaboration is vital to succeed as a scientist, I have active collaborations with Emory University School of Medicine and Texas Tech Paul Foster School of Medicine. I actively participate in departmental and college-wide services, as well as professional organizations and scholarly journals. I sought as an advisor and consultant on scientific and technological programs and problems, which extend well beyond my area of specialty. These experiences demonstrate that I have the skill in providing scientific advice, collaboration, and consultation.
The wind rushes through my hair as I speed through the back roads to my happy place. The humongous corn fields quickly disappear into my rear view mirror when I rip off the road into the field. I can feel the bass bouncing through out my jeep as Shania Twain blares through the speaks of my jeep. With my windows down, I’m sure everyone in 4 mile radius can hear my music too. My hands grip the leather wheel as I hit each bump of the open field. As I hear my friends singing Party For Two with me, a laugh escapes my mouth. I know my friends aren’t paying attention as I speed up to hit the steep 2 foot drop off. My body leaves my seat as I scream with joy, but Lexie and Mackenzie scream with terror as they bounce around their seats. Over dramatic
Standing on that rugged practice field on a brisk Friday night, I begin to feel my nerves clench inside my rushing body. Looking to my right, the cheers of the crowd congratulate the younger boys as they stroll off the field. The bright lights glow beyond the ginormous section of bleachers and ancient trees. Lining up on the curb, the drumline pounds a beat that sends chills down my spine. My team strides down Prospect street at the heels of the drums. No words are said, as I tune into the scratchy, clicking sound of my shining white, size-twelve cleats making contact with the car-lined road.
I choose my journal on my actual interest. The real state bussines is very profitable. Therefore, I choose a journal on that field. The analysis was complex. I had to read with patient all the artlicle and detect the ethos, pathos, and logos. I read the article multiple times, each time something new was coming.
I have only one word: listen. Humans became so loud, shouting to be heard over everyone else. So concerned with ourselves, our jobs, our money, or the internet that we stopped paying attention to the pieces of nature around us, beautiful and ugly alike. We try so hard to fill our lives with meaning in the most unmeaningful of ways, promotions and new cars, when there’s so much more to living. The trees sing when the wind blows and we’re listening to the radio. Hermit crabs chirp, dolphins name themselves, prairie dogs have voices and we ignore it all in favor of Facebook What doesn’t directly affect us is blocked out or put on a back burner so we won’t think about it. We became so removed from the natural world we no longer notice what’s
The lives I would touch for my legacy would be my family and friends because those are the people that care about me and what I do. That they would help me out with anything I need. My major accomplishment would be a pro soccer player and go to Rutgers College. The other accomplishment in my life would be to get very good grades in school to get a good education.
I am going to be talking about the time I missed an important deadline and spent my day writing an essay about a career instead of actually going out getting to experience a day in the field. I should have gotten my forms signed so that I would have been allowed to go to CSD.
During the completion of my field experience, I was able to concentrate on the growth and development of myself professionally. Amidst the many positive experiences I gained working between experience professionals, I was also able to acquire and enhance my own teaching skills. For me the experience was an eye opener, being a future educator with little experience I was able to gain many details and exposures to the many useful resources parent have within the community. After being in several different community resources I was afforded a noble benefit from the knowledge gained from the professionals I met and the parents they serviced.
Bang! I heard a loud noise, it was the door that my daughter slammed, she was coming down the hallway entering the house and she walked past me without saying good evening mom. Then she threw herself on my coach like she owned the joint. I followed her into the living room, well! I said someone is not happy today, have a bad day at work did you. She just looked at me while holding her head towards the ground. I then asked her if she wanted to talk about it. She sounded like she growled and my reply was, when you are ready to talk, you know where to find me.
One warm spring morning me and my mom woke me up fairly early, along with my two siblings. They had to go to school, but I wasn’t in school yet. We walked them to their bus stop that morning, out the trailer, down the street and up to the very top of the hill. We waited until the bus arrived and waved as they drove away.
My expectations of the field experience is to acquire more knowledge, while enhancing my skills, and learning more information about the career I wish to pursue. Something I hope to gain from this opportunity is being able acquaint myself with new people and being able to network with others. With my leadership background in ROTC, I know I can utilize the skills I’ve procured from the ROTC program towards the advancement of the agency. I’ve held countless leadership positions under the ROTC program during my college career at South Carolina State University. Not only has this experience help me develop, broaden my skills, but it has also permitted me to become a very well rounded individual. In hopes of earning this opportunity I expect to
