One warm spring morning me and my mom woke me up fairly early, along with my two siblings. They had to go to school, but I wasn’t in school yet. We walked them to their bus stop that morning, out the trailer, down the street and up to the very top of the hill. We waited until the bus arrived and waved as they drove away. Me and my mom had a wagon with lunch in it, pb and j’s, chips, apple slices, and of course some juice. We pulled the wagon to the nearest park in the trailer park, it wasn’t really a park, it was more of a big open field. Once we got to the field we looked for a good spot to put our blanket. Most of the field had weeds and sticks and not too much grass, but once we found our spot, we laid out our blanket with a small hole
This past year, I have been apart of Naperville Central’s brand new Special Spaces club. When my friend approached me and asked me to join, I agreed even though I had no clue what I was involving myself in. In retrospective, I can honestly say that becoming a part of Special Spaces has been one of the most meaningful, fun, and fulfilling experiences I have had in high school.
Over my years of school, one big influence on me has always been sports. Ever since a young age, I have always enjoyed playing and watching sports. In my four years in high school, I have fell in love with the sport of lacrosse.
I woke up and took one bite out of my pop tart but that one bite was all I could eat. My legs were shaking, and my heart was pounding. My dad told me, “It is a true honor to even make it this far so go out there and have some fun.” Once I heard this statement, I knew I was ready to go. I arrived at school and boarded the bus. The car ride was an hour and fifteen minutes of hearing the squeaking of the wheel on the bus. My teammates were getting their heads ready for the big game.
When it comes to my passion most don’t understand it the way I do. For the past three years my passion has been lacrosse. Since I was a freshman at Sandalwood High School my interests for the sport have grown and my devotion and commitment have reached new limits. Most people don’t understand lacrosse, they just know that it is a sport “with sticks and stuff”, and while I don’t take offense to ignorance; sharing my passion with others is never a burden. Lacrosse is one of the biggest parts of my life as of now and I believe it will continue to be for many years to come, but there’s more to the sport than most people know. Lacrosse has a history behind it older than any other sport in America, as well as the fact that as of now,
When I was eight years old, my family decided to have a cookout on a hot Saturday morning at my great aunt’s house. We did not live a great distance from her, so the ride was not that long.
My step-mom's mom was traeling to our house at seven o'clock in the morning. My dad, step-mom, sister, step-brother, and me were waiting at the house for her. We had some sandwiches to snack on.
Her father’s words echoed through her head as one might hear a reverberation throughout the Taj Mahal. Continuous. Chilling. Having no control to distill the wavelengths until they mellowed out on their own accord. She tried to anatomize the depth of his phrase, more than dutifully needed but Davina needed to know why. Why did she need to keep an open mind and more importantly, who the hell was about to come bursting through that door. But then again, did it really matter in the first place. When she thought about it, the brunette could have laughed at the idea. That an unattributed, faceless figure had her panties in a bunch. Surely Dominic wouldn’t think to waste her time with venial diversions,

When I was young my Dad would always remind me of how important these years as a kid are. He would always say watch how you act as a kid, for it will set the stage for the rest of your life. So many people I know ruined their lives when they were kids. This small, yet so important statement runs through my mind everyday. I love how everyone says they don’t care what people think of them, but I wish they knew how important it is to have a good image. I am not perfect, but I would like to be close as possible. But as Salvador Dali said “Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it. “ The problem I see is everyone wanting to be someone that they are not. Sure, we all have our idols that we look
Going to college is very uncommon within my family, not many of my family members have furthered their education with the college route. I thought going above and beyond others within my family and putting in the effort that goes along with college would really help me stand out from my family members. Most of my family have went straight into the workforce , straight out of high school with that being one of my options, that influenced me with the major of Production Agriculture due to the fact my family and I have been raised to run a farm. By doing the extra step and going through with college I believe my standpoint on running a farm will have a slight advantage then my other family members. Unlike most people in my family
Go back to a time, when smart phones, and laptop were as thick history textbooks. To a time when a whole gallon of gas cost a little more than a dollar. The year is 1998 and in this year I was born. I was given to a very loving mother and father, that with their extraordinary love gave me the unextraordinary name of David. I grew up in the wonderful city of El Paso, Texas.
The summer before I went into the sixth grade my mom took my two sisters Natalie and Liberty, my brother Derek and I to Chicago for a family trip. We drove for a long 8 hours. My mom picked Chicago because that is where she was born and raised. She also wanted us to know where she lived and know about her childhood. When we arrived in Chicago, the first thing we did was go to the neighborhood my mom lived in with her adopted family and where my grandparents lived. My mom cried a little because it had been so long since she had visited her old house. After that we went and checked into our hotel and went to dinner at a steakhouse. Then once we were done eating we went to a car show.
When setting out on my search, I felt confident I would have the most luck on Google. There I searched for not only “Jocelyn Nadeau”, but my name along with each of the towns I have lived in. I was aware depending on the search engine used, different results can be found. Consequently, I used the same tactic on Yahoo. After searching on a large scale, I decided to scour to the online archives of my local newspaper. I also signed up for a free trial of Ancestry.com, in the hopes there would some exciting information there. And, a helpful friend recommended trying out Instant Checkmate, which although I had never heard of, was willing to give a try. My last course of action was to search social media sites. I do not use social media myself, nevertheless, I wanted to see if my name was out there. I checked Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, and Myspace.
Fast forward a few months later to July 7th, the day was just any normal scorching day in Texas. Being that I was only nine there were no responsibilities for me, I just stayed home all week and just appreciated my summer. That morning I woke up around noon, got up and went to scrounge for some breakfast. With cereal in hand, I was making my way back to my room to gobble up my frosted flakes and watch some television, when my mom came into the house and
