Ever since I was young I knew I wanted to do something that would help people or the world somehow. I was young, so as you can tell I could’ve just been staying that because I thought it was cool, but as the years went on it called my attention more and more. Eighth grade was the year when I really did realize that I wanted to do this for a living, I wanted to be a doctor. Little did I know there are many different fields of medicine , I just knew that I wanted to be a Pediatrician. I was looking into the salary and how many years it would take me to be a Pediatrician, I was ready. Overtime I started noticing how expensive things are and they just don’t make enough I also started losing a lot of interest because it almost seemed boring to me. I needed action , fast thinking , saving people's lives! So I started thinking what part of the medical field fits what I wanted to do, then I thought of being a surgeon. I changed my mind because I do not have steady hands and cannot stand still for a long period of time. So I stuck with the idea of being in the hospital, I finally decided that I wanted to be a physician in the Emergency …show more content…
Honestly, I really do think I'm ready to spend 11-15 more years learning after high school because in the end, I know it'll all have paid off because I am doing something that I love. I also know that it involves a lot of making smart choices in a small amount of time for the good of the patient. My main goal is to keep the patient stable and alive. Now, financially speaking, I think that being a physician in the Emergency room makes a good amount of money, I'll be financially stable. These physicians also have long shifts because they work tirelessly attending to all of the incoming patients. Overall, I have a strong interest in this specific career, especially now after doing all of my
Just a few years ago, I fully realized that I want to be a Neonatal doctor. When I was about three, I had this little doll that I would carry around. One day we were watching Life and Trauma in the E.R. and I threw my baby doll onto the floor and started to resuscitate her. Ever since then I knew that I wanted to be a doctor of some kind; I just wasn't sure what kind of doctor I wanted to be.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” As a child, we have all been asked this question; and as unrealistic children, we all had dreams of being a superhero, princess, cowboy, or astronaut. Later on in life, as time went by, and as we became more knowledgeable, our answers became more serious. Some of us wanted to be teachers, business owners, or a veterinarian. However, I have always wanted to be a doctor, but not just any doctor. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a pediatrician. Now, half way through my junior year in high school, I have started to question the details of this career, and all the hard work it takes to become a part of the medical field.
I have aspired to be in the medical field for as long as I can remember. At the beginning of every school year the teachers would inquire each student to share what role we wanted to pursue when we grow up, my answer was always the same: a nurse. I am very goal oriented, and I am aware to accomplish anything you must work for it and put in one hundred percent. Mistakes can be critical, but they remain a huge part of the learning experience and advancing. How one handles those mistakes are ultimately what makes or breaks you.
Based off this information I had decided that nursing was not for me. Long hours and demanding, uncooperative patients was not appealing to me. As for other medical fields, nothing stuck with me, my senior year in high school I considered pathology, but the more I researched the more I became uninterested. Back to the drawing board it was, until that first ultrasound I went to with my friend. As I researched I became more interested and learned that sonography is more than just OB/GYN, there is so much more to learn and explore.
For all of my life, I knew that I wanted to help people. I didn’t know how or when I was going to, but I knew that I needed to do something that helped others. We see people helping each other every day, but I knew that I was not like other kids who wanted to be a fireman or a police officer. At the same time, helping people to me wasn’t going to be me becoming a surgeon and saving lives; I do not have a strong enough stomach. For a very long time, helping people meant that I was going to teach high school classes in the sciences. I continued looking around for other career paths and began diving more into the medical field and it fascinated me. Eventually, I came across pharmacy, a career where I can exhibit my need of helping others and my interest in science.
I knew that I loved to help people in need and I always felt that working in the medical field would be a great way to help me help others. I have been extremely interested in the world of medicine ever since. At first, I wanted to be a physician. I used to practice on my stuffed animals, teddy bears, and even my siblings! I used to pretend to give them diagnoses and prescribe fake medicine to them.
find my niche. I went from wanting to be a doctor to a nurse and eventually landed on an
I will then continue my education at a physician assistant graduate program which takes two years. After graduating, and becoming a certified physician assistant, my dream is to work in a family practice. In this environment I will be able to care for a variety of different patients, while also having good hours, so that if I do have children I will be able to be there for them the way my mom always was for

Being part of many different activities during high school has helped me balance my academics to strive for a high GPA. Knowing I have priorities encourages me to contribute to my studies by asking for help when attending tutorials or when I do not understand an assignment. I want to continue filling my time with activities that expand my knowledge, leadership, and social skills throughout college. After attending your university, I want to attend medical school to follow my path on pushing myself to become a pediatrician. My favorite activity to lead me to progress towards my goal is volunteer work.
From a young age, I have said I wanted to be a pediatrician. Over the years, I have explored many career options but I always went back to medicine. Many of the experiences that have since starting college have strengthened my dreams of becoming a doctor and shaped who I am today. These experiences have varied from academic accomplishments to random conversations I have had with many Spartans.
I am interested in pediatrics. I have been working professionally with a pediatrician/clinical geneticist, and we work closely with children suffering from mitochondrial diseases. We identify mutations from whole exome sequencing of DNA of affected patients, and carry out functional studies on the genes affected. Diagnosis is often too late for these patients, since each patient's shows a different clinical variation, making it difficult to detect.
As the saying goes, “Education begins at home.” I grew up in a developing Middle Eastern country called Oman where healthcare resources were limited. My mother worked at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a nurse, and she was the main authority on healing and medical issues in our neighborhood. Friends, neighbors, and family members came to my mom when they needed medical advice or treatments. I thought my mom knew absolutely everything about medicine until the day she took me to a pediatrician for a mysterious rash.
I have always wanted to enter the medical field but I wasn’t for sure on what I wanted to go in for. I was stuck between choosing medical assisting and medical billing and coding. I choose medical billing and coding because there are so many job opportunities you can receive while working in this field. I am very excited about learning the different codes that are used in the medical field. After I graduate and pass the certification exam I see myself working in a hospital setting or
