Ever since the middle of seventh grade, I have set a goal for myself to ensure that I got into the S.T.E. M. Academy. I remember the day when my older sister came home explaining how she wanted to take the S.T.E.M. test. I was extremely interested in what she had to say about the program. She told me that the S.T.E.M. Academy was comprised of a group of elite students who got to experience all four categories of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math for all of their 4 years of High School. After that day, the S.T.E.M. Academy was burned into my brain, never to be forgotten. I knew that getting into S.T.E.M. would be my main goal for the rest of my Middle School career. For the past couple of years, I have been working so hard to ensure …show more content…
A word that represents one’s courage and mental as well as moral strengths of character; a personality trait that represents a person’s passion to strive for their goals. A trait that I encompass. No matter what challenges interfere with my path to reach my ambitions, I work as hard as I can to not just get around them, but to demolish them. No matter what knocks me over, I will make sure to get back up again, brush it off, and continue on. No matter what it takes, I make sure to persevere in life and no matter how many times it takes me to get there, I make sure to go beyond the target that I set. When studying for a test I will not tolerate myself getting one problem wrong. I have to start the process over again until each and every one problem I do is correct, from start to finish. When practicing for the softball season, when I set a goal of fifty catches, back and forth, without dropping the ball, I will stand outside for six hours straight until I reach fifty-five. When I play a boardgame with one of my siblings and I lose, I force them to play with me over and over again until I beat them three times straight. Because of this perseverance I beset, I will try with all my might to reach this goal that I set a year and a half ago in dedication to getting into the S.T.E.M Academy. And because of this goal I will ensure that I will do well while in the S.T. E. M. Academy and why I am worthy of making it …show more content…
I knew that I loved to help people in need and I always felt that working in the medical field would be a great way to help me help others. I have been extremely interested in the world of medicine ever since. At first, I wanted to be a physician. I used to practice on my stuffed animals, teddy bears, and even my siblings! I used to pretend to give them diagnoses and prescribe fake medicine to them. As I grew older and I learned more about chemistry. I decided that when I grew up I wanted to be a medicinal chemist. I bought tons of chemistry science kits and I explored the world of making rock candy, green goop, working with microscopes and making color changing foaming jelly and polymer puddings! But, just recently, I have developed a want to help those with cancer and to become a oncologist. I am still so confused as to what I should do! That is why I feel like S.T.E.M. will help me onto the right track and launch me into a career that I love. The biomedical program will help me to deviate what I am passionate about from what I don’t think is the right job for
I set forth a great deal of exertion into everything that I do. I do my best in any and everything. When I set goals for myself, I give it my best shot to accomplish them and on the off chance that I happen to miss the mark regarding my goals then I value realizing that I gave a valiant effort. I am exceptionally persevering in my studies and
As an aspiring scientist and doctor, I feel that TAMS would be beneficial not only in accelerating the completion of my required school, but also to allow me an experience like no other with peers that have similar goals. What I hope to gain more than anything else is an environment that is more mature and serious than high school. I feel as if the other students in the program and the program's nature it would allow me to become more self-sufficient and give me connections that will prove useful. Research opportunities are also very enticing to me because of my school's lack of hands-on science programs and my growing passion for biochemistry I find myself dreaming of being able to conduct experiments of my own. The students that I would be
Saint John Vianney High School’s National Honor Society program would help to encourage me to explore every facet of my education, promoting the importance of being not only educated, but also extremely proficient in every aspect as well. On the surface, I think I am like most young and modern American women: I take
The National Honor Society at McHenry East campus was one of the most memorable things I hold onto from my highschool career. I recall seeing the blue longsleeve shirts when I was a freshman and asking my counselor about how I too can be involved in the organization. When I learned one must earn a position I made it my goal to earn a spot junior year and when that year finally did approach I was pleased to receive an invitation to apply and I later earned a spot on the team. Since my first meeting in NHS, I felt at home. I felt lots of positive energy from the others and I became very involved in the club.
In a community of low-income families and few successful people it can be challenging to look forward to a bright future. With students being set up for mediocre careers and few expectations it may not be easy to imagine yourself as a doctor, lawyer, or entrepreneur. My community may not have the necessary funding to provide out of state field trips or new uniforms for school teams, but if I am optimistic enough to see the glass half full the possibilities are endless. With free education at my finger tips, I have the necessary means to do well in school, participate in clubs, and give back to my community. On the other hand, as the oldest of three girls I have learned countless lessons from my family due to comprehending and living with distinguishing
Being chosen by my teachers and other leaders to be a candidate for membership in the National Honor Society is a great honor for me. It means I have achieved my goal of demonstrating my determination and willingness to help people and serve the community. I believe I will be a good member because I am hardworking, reliable, and trustworthy. Community Service to me means I am doing my part to help the people and animals in need. Like walking the dogs at the Humane Society, bringing therapy animals to the Assisted Living, and helping with saxophone lessons.
National Honor Society First off, thank you for the opportunity to be considered for a National Honor Society membership. I feel as though I reflect the standards and characteristics of a NHS member. I believe that I am a good candidate for the National Honor Society because I can be a leader, serve wholeheartedly, have a good character, and have excellent scholarship.
The National Honors Society is a fellowship that supports and builds character. It is inspiring to see so many individuals come together and make an impact in their community, regardless of their circumstances. Joining this group will not only help me develop the four pillars of scholarship, service, leadership, and character, but also allow me to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Life is based on perspective. My ultimate goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment filled with grace and love where everyone can feel refreshed and supported.
I am honored to be considered for induction into the National Honor Society. I have worked hard to earn a 4.508 GPA, and I will continue to strive to increase it. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society is extremely important to me for several reasons. I am currently involved in multiple community service opportunities through my church and enjoy the opportunities that I have to serve others. Along with the prospect of more service opportunities, NHS also offers multiple scholarship opportunities.
I believe that I should be accepted into the National Honor Society because I embody all four principles. Although I’ve never held a leadership position, I have demonstrated my ability as a leader in both clubs and on sports teams. I have great character; I have never caused issues inside or outside of school, and I am honest. I have kept a high GPA throughout my high school career and place heavy emphasis on academics. Lastly, I have gathered several volunteer hours and have happily contributed to helping my community.
I have remained in the top 50 of our school’s class ranking throughout my high school career and am constantly enrolling in advance classes to increase my knowledge about difficult subjects. By the end of this school year I will have taken European History AP, English III AP, and several other advance courses. Furthermore, I am always challenging myself in new ways. For example, I am ranked in the Mu Alpha Theta presidency where I attend numerous conventions to compete and represent
I believe I represent the scholarship level of National Honor Society very well as I have achieved A’s in all my classes, including my college classes. I have attained a 3.5 gpa or higher my entire high school career thus far. If I do not have an A in a class, I always try my hardest to get back up to an A by doing everything that is possible. At the conclusion of my sophomore year I earned an academic letter. I represent the leadership level by helping classmates that need help in class or on a personal level.
To be nominated a member of the National Honor Society would be a personal achievement that shows my hard work has been officially mentioned. The last three years of high school has flown by and before I know it I will be off to college next fall. As I reflect the past three years, I could not be happier with the person that I have become. Looking back to freshman year, I was somewhat shy and I did my work as it came and went
It is a great honor to be selected as a candidate for the National Honors Society. The Society is an fundamental part in helping the society and inspiring hard work, and I would like to be a part of that environment. I believe that I would be a good candidate for the National Honors Society because I fulfill all aspects of being a member of this prestigious community. I have been a hard and determined worker since grade school and have continued striving to be a good scholar throughout high school. I am fully committed to learning, and this is demonstrated through my academic achievements and other awards.
The time and effort I have put into each and every day to shape who I am displays my dedication. Growing up, I had a vision of who I wanted to become because of the influential people who surrounded me. As my current chapter is coming to an end, I realized I obtained my goal; I have managed to play every sport that interested me. My goal led me to play my three favorite sports, all four years of high school. Along with my athletic abilities, I have managed to maintain a spot in the top ten percent of my class, which made me eligible to participate in National Honor Society.
