Upon evaluating the effect of past five week’s classes and course material encounters each week was enchanting for me. I have had great impact on my practice with those new gained and reinforced knowledge .While reading some of the materials I realized how important the legal value of our documentation .As nurses often we do give priority to our patients care and charting as our last priority .Whatever care we give if we are not documenting its considered as not done .when it reaches court of judgement our documentation is our proof .Other impact was on the focused assessment .As our patient population mostly belong to the repeated visit for chemo therapy ,focus is mainly on the focused assessment ,my new knowledge assisting me to do focused assessment in a more systematic way. Acronyms like VINDICATE was new to me even though familiar with SOAP I never used SOAPIE before.
While reflecting back on the previous weeks, I have to say that this was the foundational class for the FNP students. Before this class, I used to think how I am going to fulfill the role of a Nurse Practitioner (NP). This class helped me to better understand my role and gave me the confidence that I can fulfill the role of an NP. Today, when I look at myself, I know I am in the stage of advanced beginner in Patricia Benner’s Novice to expert theory. The case studies in the discussion threads really put me in the real world of practical nursing as an NP fulfilling the role of a provider. Thorough the case studies, I have learned how to make a best differential diagnosis based on the patients presenting symptoms. The interaction and sharing
My reason for choosing this particular course was to study and explore the different practices towards improving health and how health effects people worldwide. Also, my expectations from this class is to learn the core concepts of public health and the essential associations between nursing, global health, and the elements
The additional course work enhances the student’s professional development, prepares the new nurse for a broader scope of practice, and provides the nurse with a better understanding of the cultural, political, economic, and social issues that affect patients and influence health care delivery.” (American Association of Colleges of Nursing (American Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN], 2012, p. 1)
A Critical Analysis of Patient Centred Assessment Including a Reflective Analysis of a Simulated Problem-Focused Assessment
This piece of work will be based on the pre-assessment process that patients go through on arrival to an endoscopy unit in which I was placed in during my second year studying Adult diploma Nursing. I will explore one patient’s holistic needs, identifying the priorities of care that the patient requires; I will then highlight a particular priority and give a rational behind this. During an admission I completed under the supervision of my mentor I was pre-assessing a 37 year old lady who had arrived to the unit for an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. During the pre-assessment it was important that a holistic assessment is performed as every patient is an individual with unique care needs as the patient outline in this piece of work has
This class was very challenging, interesting, and informative. First, students must push themselves to expand their knowledge and help themselves become more inquisitive, critical, reflective, and problem solve. As future professional nurse practitioner, we are striving for integrating clinical judgment skills. The knowledge gained in the textbook must be applied in the clinical settings without discrimination.
At this point I know that I am confident, I can critically think and independently plan, organize and provide quality care to my patient. I have made a tremendous improvement on medication knowledge, application and administration and these competencies will be demonstrated in my clinical rotation at Holy redeemer. I have also put studying materials and practices that will help me recall and comprehend what I had learn so far to help me finish strong in this course that I have journeyed so
As I Reflect over this semester, it is difficult to believe that I am halfway through the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. The (DNP) program has changed my life considerably by providing me with the tools I need to become successful in my nursing career. My goal in this program is to become the best care provider and nurse educator possible. Acquiring knowledge, technical skills, and examples of the reading assignments continue to help me meet my outcomes in this program. Also, each semester, my experience in writing continues to grow as well as my understanding of the purpose of a scholarly project (Kung, 2012).
First Year Seminar is a beneficial, getting started-like course provided by West Coast University during the first term of the program. Since the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is very rigorous this course is helpful in adjusting new students, such as myself, to a very demanding, fast-pace program. This class focuses on topics that help students organize and understand oneself and the mission of WCU mission to achieve the greatest success as a student. In my Signature Assignment term paper I will focus on my experience with FYS and what information I’ve gained to help me understand my learning style, strengths and weaknesses I have as a student, how working collaboratively benefits me and how I will go about achieving success at WCU.
I have accomplished some courses, which greatly helps me in improving care and outcome and working towards the patients’ goals. Being as one of the Administrative staff in my work, I am very pleased of learning new ideas from IHI and having this applied towards my work setting.
This author also believes that her knowledge and confidence of nursing theories has increased with the completion of this course. This writer believe that the writer now has a better understanding of nursing theories after completing this course. By completing this course the writer believes that we have all increased our knowledge of nursing theories and in turn increase the quality of care that the patients are receiving. This author was thinking the same things when the author first started this course, just get through this course. When the writer completed her baccalaureate degree program nursing theory was something that we spent one class on which, made nursing theory confusing to the author. Now having taken a whole semester of nursing

As I only have an Associate’s degree in Nursing, much of this information is unfamiliar to me. I have not been exposed to the contents of this course before and thus the reasons I would like to set a foundation of theories for professional nursing practice. Much of the information in this course is imperative in maintain an appropriate and professional role in nursing.
I have learned to communicate better with both my colleagues, patients and their families and how to develop therapeutic relationships. I have also improved in academic writing. I feel I have made positive impact on both patients and their families during module three and four placements. I safely practiced the clinical skills acquired during theory and on placement and have developed more confidence in delivering these skills.
I am excited to write about my experience of community health clinical orientation because I feel the students’ opinions are considered and value in order to continue to better the nursing program. The online orientation was great because many times, having orientation all day on campus can be draining and many students do not focus towards the end of the day. I was concerned about the lack of communication and organization; however it is understandable, there are many changes in the beginning of the semester. I liked having an audio in one of the power points because it provided more information since in my opinion the power points did not contain enough information to guide us into the semester as well as what professors are expecting from students. The videos required to watch also formed stress in all the students because they were not available and many did not know who to reach out to for help due to the lack of communication. I was able to only get through fifteen minutes of one of the videos before it stopped working and I enjoyed those few minutes because community nursing has an important history. The quiz provided was a good strategy to make sure students studied the power points and I believe this type of orientation should continue because it allows students to focus more and it’s an encouragement to read the information.
