In today’s world, every little thing celebrities do become a headline. The media publish exclusives and people tend to soak them up. Why? Simply put, it sells. There is an audience that wants to read and see such material, so the media are happy to comply. However, while some argue that celebrities have a private life that should remain so, the media does not have a right to publish their every personal detail. However, when it comes to actions that have been taken and could still potentially harm the safety of others, then the public has a right to know. When In Touch, a gossip magazine, disclosed in 2015 that Josh Duggar, star of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, was accused of molesting four of his sisters and a family friend, all minors, in …show more content…

However, their profession comes at a price which, unfortunately, more often than not involves a lack of personal space. This is true of Josh Duggar and the rest of the family, which tends to portray themselves as wholesome, moral and upright individuals on their hit television show on TLC. This scandal has certainly left a ding on their otherwise wholesome, moral and upright family image, which viewers are now questioning. While celebrities often argue that they have a right to their privacy, more so to avoid being chased after by crazed fans and paparazzi, they often push for stricter regulations to privacy laws. However, truly defining privacy protections can be difficult to achieve, and a gray area. More often than not, celebrities want to cover up details of their private lives by stating that they are being intruded on. While some will argue that they should have the power to decide what part of their lives they what to make public. And, how that the media should know how to navigate these limits so that their privacy is maintained, we are not dealing with an exaggerated or false story here. In Touch magazine was NOT purposely trying to manipulate the facts. Though, I do understand how some will feel like the magazine is trying to exploit the story (and family) to obtain a newsworthy article that will sell magazines off their newsstand. It does feel unethical and causes a lot of disturbances in the lives of the family
