People were not exposed to barrage of news about celebrities a couple of decades ago. Mass media is becoming more garden because of rapid progress on technology day by day. Thereby, people are substantially interested in the private life of celebrities, and some of them are obsessed with celebrities. They desire to know everything about them. For instance, who is dating with whom, where they are shopping, or what they wear. In a word public have an endless hunger for more information. However, the public doesn't have the right to know about every single detail of celebrities' private lives due to several reasons. Celebrities have a right to have their own privacy, and the paparazzi had better not be allowed to restrict their lives. Furthermore, photographers and journalists must not be permitted to make news that can influence celebrities' success adversely. The rights of celebrities for privacy have always been abused, so they need to defend their rights, despite their profession. Though they are public figures, this does not mean that the publish of every detail of their private lives is justifiable. It is legitimate to take pictures when they are at the stage or on the red carpet, yet most cases they must be left alone. However, the media always inclines to release both sensational and negative news to public. The latest pattern is the Chris Brown and Rihanna domestic abuse scandal ("Chris Brown and Rihanna: A Dangerous Relationship" 1). This really influenced Chris
In the article “The Impact Celebrities have on Our Lives”, Deborah King states that we are obsessed with celebrities(para1), and I agree, it also makes me wonder why people are obsessed with celebrities. In my experience I can see a lot of people are usually watching a reality show or something of that sort. This shows that society is obsessed with celebrities. In addition it also shows that the reason people even care about celebrities is they are entertaining. In conclusion our society is obsessed with celebrities weather they have a good or bad effect on us.
In today’s world, every little thing celebrities do become a headline. The media publish exclusives and people tend to soak them up. Why? Simply put, it sells. There is an audience that wants to read and see such material, so the media are happy to comply. However, while some argue that celebrities have a private life that should remain so, the media does not have a right to publish their every personal detail. However, when it comes to actions that have been taken and could still potentially harm the safety of others, then the public has a right to know.
In the article “The Impact Celebrities Have on Our LIves”, Deborah King suggests that, because of the Internet and media today, celebrities do not have private lives anymore (para 10-11), and I agree with her. What surprises me about this is that I have never thought about it in this way. I will see what celebrities are doing in magazines and on television and never give it a second thought because it is so common. Often times I see photos of celebrities in magazines, but they are not only of when the celebrities are at social events. I have seen dozens of celebrities photographed while shopping with their families at the grocery store, walking in a park, and even of when they are taking out the trash. This illustrates that even something as
Being a celebrity exposes them to the public, and many celebrities take advantage of this in many ways. from endorsing sportswear to sunglasses, sometimes you even see them supporting politicians. Regardless of their interest this is important because they are trusted by their fans and are believed to be a person with morals and integrity. Sometimes you can turn on
The case study I chose to do is “Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise: Do Celebrities Have Privacy?” This case study discusses the very public divorce of actor Tom Cruise and actress Katie Holmes. The two were forced to play out much of their relationship so that the world could see. This bring up a multitude of ethical issues as far as a person’s right to privacy and dealing with their personal lives.
It’s like giving an allowance to a child, the more you give them, thinking they will do what they are supposed to do and act right, the more the act totally against it. Entertainers and celebrities get so wrapped in fame and glory and themselves, they often times forget they are just people, like everyone else. Their behaviors are most time excused by society and by courts due to them being under extreme pressure, their lives are in the public eye and this supposedly causes stress and strain on their lives. Are we supposed to look away and forget that we also have issues in our lives, but, if we are caught doing these same acts our actions are not looked away from, we are actually held accountable for what we are doing.
How do we as a society play a part in the demise of an actor, athletes, and musical artist? We alienate them when they are a part of any scandal or scandals, companies drop them from their products, magazines, tabloids, and media outlets discuss the scandal non-stop, flooding us with the story non-stop. Whoever is a part of the scandal is often given meaningless interviews or book and movie deals. Any and everything the celebrity has done in the past, as well as the party of the alleged scandal is dredged up. This is often called “skeletons in the closet”. What they don’t want out is often exposed and even if it’s not true or a matter of privacy, we don’t care, all we want is the juicy info.
Just because they are famous and they are in the public eye does not mean they do not deserve privacy like anybody else. Even though they have a job which I quite different from theirs, they are like everybody else normal people just with a higher economic status. Their want for privacy could lead to dangerous situations, like paparazzi chasing them on the freeway just to know what they are up or for just a picture. This should be illicit, it is unfair that celebrities have to go through such extremes for wanting privacy; they do not deserve this. For example, Princess Diana was killed because she was being chased by the paparazzi she and her driver died trying to get away from the paparazzi. This is one of the main reasons they deserve the rights as a human being to live a private, peaceful life. Their life should be, private not be disseminated everywhere to the public for entertainment. Even if they did know what they were getting themselves into they did not sign up for all the invasion of privacy or for a zealot person to stalk their everyday places and
Celebrities are everywhere in the news, the latest gossip appears in the weekly magazines without fail. Whether they be an actor, athlete, dancer, designer, model, singer or just rich; there is someone out there who is watching that person like a hawk, not letting a single breath go unnoticed. Such is the life of the rich and famous, under the incessant gaze of journalists and the paparazzi. Lives that many people take a great interest in and admire to the point where others would liken this great interest and admiration to a cult-like worship of celebrities. This is a brief description of what I think to be celebrity culture.
Many people do outrageous things to successfully get a job accomplished, but majority of the paparazzi use unethical tactics. To get a valuable picture of a celebrity, paparazzi often create unnecessary chaos. For instance, a paparazzo purposely put himself in front of Lindsay Lohan’s moving vehicle in order to get a dramatic story from it. Needless to say, about 41% of the paparazzi make up a story to go along with the photo. During desperate measures, another paparazzo has set off the fire alarm to get their target to exit a building. Paparazzi even fight each other to get the most valuable picture. As long as the most profitable picture is captured, paparazzi care less about who gets hurt in the process, whether it is a pedestrian and/or the celebrities themselves. Risking their own safety, paparazzi will even climb buildings or stow away in trees. The most popular incident in this case was Jennifer Aniston’s topless picture taken by a paparazzo
Have you ever wondered what influences us to behave the way we do? Look a certain way? Or even looked for an explanation to what causes us to apply a certain perspective regarding personal and controversial issues? One of the answers to these questions may revolve around the influence we absorb from celebrities. A definitive term for celebrity is an iconic figure to a category or group who has achieved success in one or multiple aspects of their lives. As a result, these individuals have drawn in publicity and fame. Over the years with the advances in media and other forms of communication, celebrities have become topics of discussion worldwide, rather if it’s at school, with colleagues or at the dinner table, it is fair to say that
Society should already realise that celebrities are also normal human beings and they are just ordinary people with ordinary life. Violation of their privacy rights for the sake of enjoyment of the society is definitely unacceptable. Individuals including media must behave in a respectful manner towards a person's private and family life. Respect between individuals is a crucial value it is essential to ensure peace and harmony in the society. The importance of respect is highlighted by The Golden Rule that is to earn respect, we must first respect others
Celebrities are a huge element in today’s society that a world without them is even hard to imagine because we are so accustom to seeing them all the time and everywhere we go whether it is in television, magazines and especially in social media. They have this power that we, as a society allow them to have and they are able to influence us all in different ways sometimes without themselves even realizing the impact they have. The role they have is so huge that we are constantly wanting to know everything about them, what they wear, what they eat and what they are doing. Celebrities are a part of our culture and it is hard to ignore the fact that we look up to them, it is as if they were up on a pedestal making them so much more important
The downside of fame is the interference of the media in one’s life. Stories concerning celebrities are likely to attract customers, just for entertainment purposes. Celebrities’ life is publicized, criticized and mocked at. Reporting celebrities downfall seems to be particularly appealing to the public, and it seems that hardly a day passes without the news reporting a celebrity’s’ downfall. Some people are obsessed with famous people, their life styles, and have desire for more information. Media’s negative role destroys the famous people’s lives. Famous people deserve privacy and respect. This essay will discuss the unfair treatment received by famous people from the media.
How much privacy of the individual is protected under the United States Constitution? Every one is entitled to the right of privacy, but to what extent is that privacy granted? Public figures are constantly being harassed and photographed by the media. Some photographers and reporters will go to any means, even illegal actions, to get a picture or story. However, public figures are human beings like everyone else, and the media should give them more privacy. The media needs to operate with more respect for both laws and for moral and ethical codes of conduct. There are laws establishing the privacy of an individual, and the media needs to extend these rights to public figures.
