Not all heroes wear capes and tights like Superman. Sometimes heroes are regular people or people that the world thinks are troublemakers. Ponyboy in The Outsiders is that kind of hero. Ponyboy is a hero because he always helps his friends, even when he might get hurt or in trouble. He is brave when he saves the kids from the fire and he is loyal to his friends when he runs away with Johnny. Ponyboy shows he is a hero when he helps his friends and he would even fight for them, no matter what might happen to him. In chapter one, Ponyboy tells the reader how he and the Greasers all support each other and fight to protect each other from the Socs.
