In the book, Dally was hallmarked as a reckless thug, but he showed heroism by offering a plot and some supplies to Ponyboy and Johnny to protect them. He might not perfectly fit in my earlier definition of a hero,nevertheless he was is in the eyes of Johnny and Ponyboy in that glimpse. Everyone should know what a hero is. Most people would think a man or a woman in a cool suit and had super strength.
