Johnny The Greatest Hero In The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton

Johnny is the best supporting character in The Outsiders. Johnny is Ponyboy’s closest friend. His mother and father are not involved in his life and do not really care about him. Therefore, while he was alive in The Outsider, S.E. Hinton decides to characterize Johnny as a thoughtful, brave, and fearful teenager.

The characters Johnny Cade, Cherry Valance, and Dallas Winston, could be considered heroes in the novel, The Outsiders, for several reasons. The character, Johnny Cade, can be considered a hero for his many good qualities, but his heroic actions in saving children from a church fire, ultimately resulted in his untimely death. The character, Cherry Valance, can be considered a hero because Cherry sacrificed her social life and reputation to do what was right. Additionally, the character, Dallas Winston can be considered a hero because he stays loyal to Johnny and Pony by lying to the cops about where they were. To begin, Johnny Cade is undoubtedly one of the most heroic characters in the novel.

Johnny is a hero because he saved kids from a flaming church. He and Ponyboy ran into the flaming church to save little kids from dying. In the process, Johnny broke his back and died in the hospital. That makes him a hero because he risked his life for some little kids he didn't know. In chapter 9 Johnny died a hero. He was missed by the entire gang, Dally and Ponyboy saw him as a hero.

Johnny is often described as an innocent puppy, but by the end of his life, he comes out of his shell due to certain events that take place around him. Throughout Johnny's life he reveals three strong aspects that are part of his personality; he is timid, good-hearted, and a follower. Johnny Cade is a prime example of a timid gangster.

Yet he made the ultimate sacrifice anyway to save kids despite his background.
