Ever since Jacob’s mother died, his world turned upside down, as he gave up on school and everything outside his home. Everyday he sits alone staring at the ceiling in his room wondering why he hated the outside world so much. It drove him to tears thinking about how cruel a world can be, how humans could be such deranged and obsessive creatures. Their abilities to mimic fake emotions and spew out lie after lie always haunted him. His mother, Clare Pinefield worked as a stewardess on American Airline flight 782 for over 20 years but on October 23, that would change. This time everything would change his life in one extreme violent scream. “PICKLE”, roared a rambunctious red headed girl who flew through Jacob’s bedroom window. “GET BACK HERE YOU STUPID LITTLE BIRD!” From his first floor bed room the girl ran out the door into his house, he couldn’t believe his eyes as he sat up from his bed. Question began to boil up inside his brain, who is she, where did she come from, how did she get in, why is she here? As he sat blankly in his pajamas he heard a massive crash in the kitchen. He sprung up and bolted to the kitchen seeing this tiny, wild red headed girl wrangling her pet parrot. “What are you doing in my house?” he calmly asked the dumbfounded girl. She sat up and patted her skirt to rid it of the dust, she stuck out a hand, “I’m Cecilia, I just moved next door from Scotland and my bird got out of his cage.” The words hit Jacob like a train hitting a standing car on the tracks, he couldn’t hear her continue to talk all he was feeling was panick. He was in fact an interesting boy, she had never seen such a stone cold stare before. He looked as if she was to reach out and touch him he would crumble away. Something wasn't sitting right in his heart and that made the girl very upset. She followed him to his room after his episode of fear, his door was locked and she knocked it very hard. He wouldn’t open the door, she leaned her ear up against the door and all she heard was a quiet sob. This boy was so far under water he can’t even surface to breath anymore, she knew she needed to be a life raft. “Hey, sorry for barging in I didn’t mean to scare you, what's your name?” she politely asked trying not to frighten him. He responded, “go away.” In a fit of her rambunctious attitude , “WHAT DO YOU MEAN GO AWAY I'M TRYING TO BE NICE!” Once he hear this strange fit of anger the boy began to laugh, something that hadn’t occurred since his mother passed. The girl paused and smiled as she heard his laughter, “so what’s your name again boy?” With a slight chuckle, “my name is Jacob you, strange wild girl.” She held her tongue back from the comment, ready to knock the door down, but the boy sighed , “ I’m sorry I just don’t like foreigners…” He then preceded to tell her the story about his mother and how strangers seemed to be from different plants and they all were horrible and never saw anything good.
