Have you ever been in a high school relationship. They can be difficult. There are distraction in a relationship. In the story “Jacob’s Rule” by Sharon G. Flake, the teacher Mr. Jacob is teaching his students about relationships. He paires up every boy with a girl. This supposed to teach the students about how relationships work. Brandon who is the main character gets paired up with a girl named Marimba. She is the worst looking girl in the class. Brandon doesn’t want to be paired up with Marimba buts want to be paired up with a girl named Kenya. Brandon doesn’t want anything to do with Marimba because of how she looks. Later on in the book Brandon is starting to connect with Marimba but not fully. He and she are fighting less than they did …show more content…
They are hard because they take a lot of work and need communication. Sharon G. Flake shows this by writing out, “Kenya Adams is out recorder.” “That’s messed up too, ‘cause I been liking Kenya since forever and here she is gonna decide if I’ll make a good boyfriends or not”. “Yo, Jacobs,” I say, walking up to him. “Hook me up with Kenya?” This shows that the theme is relationships can be difficult. I think this because relationships won’t work out if you don’t like the person your with. It will make things harder. A relationships is also not all about looks. Later in the book Brandon describes all of Kenya physical appearances and nothing about how her personality is. Brandon doesn’t get paired up with the person he likes but is paired up with someone he doesn’t like and who doesn't look the best. Brandon doesn’t like Marimba so he tries and cheats on her by trying to hook up with Kenya. This relationship won’t work out if you want to be with someone different. They can’t trust each other if Brandon is going to be cheating on Marimba. This relationship won’t work …show more content…
I can see their point because in the story right after Mr. Jacob gave the partners Brandon and Marimba started fighting right away before they could get to know each other. SInce Brandon didn’t get the girl he wanted he took it out on Marimba. He didn’t like how Marimba look so he didn’t want tobe with her because of that. However, relationships are hard is a more relevant theme to the story because throughout the book Sharon G. Flake was talking about the problems a relationship can have. Some examples were when Brandon and Marimba where fighting in the hallway. Another one was when Brandon, Kenya, and Marimba where supposed to go to the movies together. Kenya said she couldn’t make it and when this happen Brandon was never paying attention to Marimba to whole time. He just kept on calling Kenya to talk to her instead of Marimba. These are all problems that relationships face and that these problems need to be worked out with each

Sarah Dessen is the author of the book “Dreamland” and through this book she talks about a struggling high school junior who has all this pressure put on her after her sister ran away. This stress is then relieved when she gets into a toxic relationship with an older boy. Dessen was probably trying to interpret that people aren’t always who they seem to be. She also hints at that instead of focusing on relationships you should focus
Being held by your word because you make a promise, or commitment is frustrating and tough. You don’t always want to do what you promised because it could be hard, or get you into trouble. Throughout the book Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Henry and Keiko’s relationship comes at a cost. They make commitments that comes with sacrifices which makes them hard to keep. Through Henry and Keiko’s relationship Ford shows that commitment is difficult.
Relationships are the key to having a very open and enjoyable life, or either a sad and lonely one. They also are more than that of being someone’s boy/girl friend or husband and wife. According to Dictionary.com, relationships are defined as connections, associations, or involvement. My personal relationship with my son is outstanding. We are extremely open with on another and assure the love we have for each other is irreplaceable. Lizzie Borden, a woman accused of murdering her father and stepmother in the late 1860s, had a very strange relationship with her family. Although she had a pretty good relationship with sister Emma, her relationship with her parents was very different. She and her stepmother
A choice of not putting the effort and vitality in building a relationship can make a person irresponsible, which impacts a relationship. When he discovered that Johnny does not have a full scout uniform because
In my eighth grade, there were tons of people who were in a relationship with each other, and that was actually quite astonishing being that there were only 50 students in my grade. I soon came to realize how many of these people genuinely seem to have little to no idea on how a relationship works. I can not rightfully speak about how to be an ideal boyfriend or anything but I can have knowledge on the things that people should not do. From my experience, there was a new girl in our grade and after a month she dated this one guy. The teenage life is complicated yet questionable. The guy simply asked the new girl to date her, as a joke, and the girl actually accepted it. Of course, this was absurd and I was completely dubious of their relationship as the guy just didn’t seem to have true feelings for the girl and vice versa. The guy simply did it out of the pleasure of having a girlfriend and seeming part of the teen culture of dating. Two weeks after dating, the couple decided to break up and it seemed normal and both really had any regret about the breakup since both had
What is a good relationship? Many people get asked this question every day and there are many different answers. Throughout history love and lust has been a very interesting topic to write about or in portraying in writings. Two stories that portray love in a different light, that are intriguing, is “The Boarding House” by James Joyce and "Women Hollering Creek" by Sandra Cisneros. These so-called love stories’ main theme is disillusionment. “The Boarding House” and “Women Hollering Creek” both have a conflict, thematic development, and the epiphanies.
For example, jeanette first had a relationship with Eric. she described her relationship with him as “calm and predictable”(272). Even though they ended up divorcing, they still had a healthy relationship. The reason for their divorce, as jeanette describes; “He was a good man, but not the right one for me”(280). She was at a difficult point in her life, and the last thing she needed was to be in a relationship, because she was still mourning her father's death. Just because they got a divorce it does not mean that their relationship was bad or abusive like her parent’s toxic relationship. Jeanette's parents relationship was so bad that at one point Rex held Rose, her mother out of a second story window, all because they had gotten into an argument. Just by comparing those two relationships, there's a huge difference between the two, and there's a bigger difference between Jeanette's second marriage and her parent’s marriage. For example, in Jeanette's second marriage with John, she says, “I’d never met a man I would rather spend time with. I loved him for all sorts of reasons”(286). This relationship she has is her best one. She is madly in love with him, and they're perfect for eachother. When jeanette was growing up the only relationship she could learn from was her parent’s destructive relationship. It is in her nature to have healthy relationships,
Resilience is defined as the quality that allows people to be knocked down and come back stronger than ever. Resilience is demonstrated throughout the novel Defending Jacob by William Landay, and the ancillary texts “If” by Rudyard Kipling, and “The Third and Final Continent” by Jhumpa Lahiri though different literary devices. The similar conflicts of Defending Jacob and “Third and Final Continent” help develop a theme of resilience throughout the stories. Another literary device that helps to show this theme in Defending Jacob and “If” is point of view. Finally, the theme is displayed once more in the novel and “Third and Final Continent” through the use of characterization. The theme of keeping one’s head through troubled times and not giving up is developed through the use of conflict, point of view, and characterization in Defending Jacob, “If”, and “The Third and Final Continent”.

In this movie, we see prejudice, aggression, conformity and
Pat and Tiffany are flawed in ways that are more common in human nature than we discuss, or would like to believe, and offer more depth to the audience than the overly-stereotyped flaws of commitment phobia and unnecessary expression of feelings.
Rita Pierson has been a child educator for over forty years, teaching junior high, elementary school, and special education. She was also a testing coordinator, an assistant principal, and a counselor, bringing a special energy into every role. Rita Pierson gives this speech to an intended audience of educators throughout the world, showing how relationships can affect a child’s academic studies. I believe Rita’s speech is appropriate for her intended audience because there are some educators out there who do not believe in relationships can alter a child’s view on education.
Education today require more than business as usual. Nurses today, faces myriad challenges that include transformation through distance learning and advances in information. The need for technology and advance base in training and practice (Brown, Kirkpatrick, Greer, Matthias, & Swanson, 2009). Education in the 21st century includes engaging learners as active participants in the learning process. Therefore, due to the seriousness of the faculty shortage, it is imperative that learners are self-regulators in education (Brown et al., 2009).
There are thousands of stories in the Bible, but one stands out in particular; the story of Joseph. The Hebrew meaning of the name Joseph is “may Jehovah add, give increase.”1 Through the life of Joseph we see God add meaning and purpose to his life, just as God adds meaning and purpose to all our lives. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”2 Joseph obediently followed God’s plans through trials and tribulations whereas many other figures in the Old Testament faltered in their faith. Joseph, son of Jacob, is the single most important human being in the Old Testament because of his impeccable faith to the one true God and his story of forgiveness that set the stage for God’s chosen people.
This assignment is going to be discussing and understanding Buffer solutions. The basic principles will be looked at in order to go into more depth to understand the biological importance of buffer solutions and how these solutions are produced as well as how the body is affected by this and the adjustments made. This extended research task is being conducted to fully understand the use and main reasons that buffers exist, not just for environmental reasons but also for biochemical reasons. The scenario that will be looked at is the buffering system inside the human body; the human body needs buffers in order to stabilize the pH levels to keep everything functioning properly.
