There are many things you can be accountable for such as people, equipment, or even just yourself. In the military, if you are responsible for an item or a person and bad things happen to them then bad things will happen to you. There is always one hundred percent accountability. Loyalty to the constitution, loyalty to the army, but most importantly loyalty to our battles that stand left and right of us every day. If they can’t rely on our loyalty how our nation can rely on us to complete the mission every day. D stands for Duty. Accountability plays a critical role in many facets of life. Acknowledging and taking responsibility for actions and decisions directly affects the health and success of individuals, households, communities, businesses, and governments. Such a concept is especially important in a large, complex organization like the United States Army. America’s premier land-based combat force for over 240 years, the U.S. Army has taken part and succeeded in numerous crises, conflicts, and wars across the globe. These many triumphs resulted from millions of men and women responsibly carrying out their duties and meeting expectations. As an institution in which operations, projects, and, above all, lives depend on people staying committed and answering for their actions, the U.S. Army illustrates the incredible significance of accountability.
So what is Personnel accountability exactly? Personnel accountability is a by name tracking system that manages the duty status and location of every single soldier assigned or attached to a unit. This tracking system also tracks the soldiers as they arrive to the unit, and depart from the unit for duty. Personnel accountability must be maintained at all times, for an inaccurate count will lead to disastrous outcomes.

Ensuring strict accountability for our military members is relatively easy because they are required to provide supervisors with contact information when they depart on leave even on there off time they are required to be accounted for. Integrity is one of the Army’s core values and one of the cornerstones of the army. The cornerstones of the army are important because they are the very fundamentals that we all must live to uphold. We must always embody and live up to the core beliefs and fundamentals of the army. We must try every day to respect and uphold the army core values and beliefs.
