This essay I am going to write is about the importance of accountability in the army, and as to how it affect the units mission. First off by definition "Accountability is important in the military because soldiers are often times required to perform extremely challenging duties and services. Without accountability, a soldier cannot be expected to meet these high demands and expectations". Being accountable means being in the right place at the right time, being in the proper duty uniform, being dependable and always arriving to work on time, appointments on time and most importantly doing the right thing at the right time and all the time. One of the most important parts about being accountable is so that you do not miss any important …show more content…
you must be aware of your actions and always be vigilant and never to lose self accountability. Once you have gained self accountability, you can then start to worry about other people if the task requires it. Accountability does not only happen on the week days but also during your personal time because a lot of what you do or people see you do on your personal time can affect how people view and see you on work time. Also it can also affect how you feel about yourself or how other people feel about you. The next topic i am going to cover is the importance of being accountable as a Non-Commissioned Officer. This is really important because soldiers will always be coming to you for advice, guidance and almost everything they can not do alone. NCO's are the backbone of the military, they relay information from the top of the channels all the way to the bottom. The NCO mindset comes from a lot of honest hard work and working your way up from the bottom, which is why the NCO’s should know most about accountability, and also because they need to have accountability of not only themselves but that of others that are under them. If one domino falls then most of the time they will all fall. so in other words if one person messes up then it could mess up everyone. In some missions this is very bad because if you are in Afghanistan or Iraq then you need to have accountability so that everyone gets home safe and unharmed. The higher that you go in the NCO support
What is accountability? The Army definition is: The obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. The person having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property, documents, or funds. Accountability is concerned primarily with records, while responsibility is concerned primarily with custody, care, and safekeeping. However, the way I see accountability is the responsibility of keeping track of the equipment or personnel assigned to you. Accountability is a big thing in the military because it ties in with responsibility and duty. That obviously makes it an important topic, no matter your rank. No
I as a Soldier firmly believe that accountability is highly important in the Army for these following reasons:
1. ACCOUNTABILITY. The (DOD) definition of accountability: The obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. The person having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property, documents, or funds. Accountability is concerned primarily with records, while responsibility is concerned primarily with custody, care, and safekeeping. Accountability is the most important part in the Army. Accountability is a very important part of an enlisted and a NCO's job. The enlisted soldier is responsible for all items issued to him whether it is a weapon, clothes, TA-50, BII, etc. The NCO's responsibility is to make sure that the soldier is accountable for all these items and has eyes on these items when need, so that he can report it to his higher command. Accountability also includes the most important piece of equipment the soldier him or herself. Anything can and will happen especially in combat, that's why the team member should make sure that the team or squad leader know where the soldier and his or her equipment is at all times. The Army spends a lot of money on equipment and belongings for the soldiers, so the Army expects to know where its equipment is. No matter
It is your duty to make sure you have accountability of everything as a noncommissioned officer every morning it is your duty to make sure your soldier is there it is your duty to make sure that the tasks that need to be done for the day are completed if you don’t have accountability on what had to be done then the job will not get done accountability is everything you have to make sure your
The accomplishment of the mission and the welfare of ones Soldiers. These two basic responsibilities are at the heart of what it is to be a Non Commissioned Officer. They are in essence the yardstick in which to measure the success on an NCO. However, there is more to being an NCO than just ensuring the mission is accomplished and ones Soldiers are taken care of both on and off duty. There are three major principles, which define Leadership, Purpose, Motivation and Direction. (ADP 6-22, 2012) Not only does a Non Commissioned Officer need to provide these three things in order to accomplish the mission and take care of their Soldiers, but the Non Commissioned Officer also needs purpose, direction and motivation from his Superiors. Without
Schafer and Panitch had differing views on the connection between responsibility and accountability, Schafer believed them to be inherently intertwined and Panitch stated that the Canadian public has lost faith in the accountability of the system. I personally agree with Panitch’s thoughts about Canadians as I do not believe that public officials are as accountable as they should be. Schafer makes the point that when trying to analyze the distinctions between these two qualities, instead of clarification we are left confused and muddled. As stated by Schafer on page 11, it is often difficult to determine who is to be held accountable when something goes wrong within a large organization. In this case, the person who is of the highest ranking
Strawson argues that we cannot be ultimately morally responsible for our own actions. Explain and evaluate his argument.
What is the importance of accountability in the military and in the work place? What is accountability by definition: (Department Of Defense) The obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. The person having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property, documents, or funds. Accountability is concerned primarily with records, while responsibility is concerned primarily with custody, care, and safekeeping. Accountability is very important because it allows for your chain of command to know where you are at at the moment. Accountability in the workplace is defined as doing the right thing consistently, day in and
I am writing this essay to explain the importance of keeping proper accountability of your personal belongings and the importance and the harmful effects of alcohol abuse and the damages it can have on your body. I am going to start with the first hand effects of alcohol abuse. Sometimes it can be fun to get so drunk that you can’t walk straight or even talk in a complete sentence but what you don’t realize is the effect it has on your brain all of the alcohol that you consume sends toxins to you brain which is that feeling of lightness and sometimes dizziness is your body’s way of telling you you’ve had enough if you get that feeling and you stop drinking it okay, but if you continue to push your body past that limit is when it starts to get dangerous and your body starts to shut down first your legs go and then your speech.
Most people are aware of the ethical challenges businesses face in today’s world especially, in the financial services industry. Financial services became a major target after several scandals such as Enron and MCI. Unfortunately, the financial industry is very large, which encompasses entities such as banks, insurance companies, mortgage lenders, pension, and securities funds. “The financial service sector represents 20 percent of this index’s market capitalization. Because of the vast size, the industry tends to garner lots of headlines, many of which tout its ethical lapses” (Federwisch). Based on the case study, “Level of Executive Pay” the Chairperson of NYSE is
Should anyone be excused legally or morally for his or her behavior? In most cases I would say no, although there are a few instances in which I would also say yes. In my opinion, all individuals should be held accountable for their behavior. Although, the extent of that accountability should vary from person to person based on their mental capabilities and physical handicaps. In some cases, such as with juveniles, I believe their parents should be held accountable also.
I am in a unique and fortunate position as co-owner of my organization. My role encompasses many areas from administrative, financial all the way to facilities management. My “felt responsibility” is very strong as I have much at stake in a very personal and emotional manner. Our organization’s name is Reddy Medical Group, which carries my name. This in itself brings be much pride, however, along with this, tremendous responsibility. In the small community that we serve, our reputation is of immense gravity to me. The difference in the term accountability to felt responsibility lies in this feeling that cannot be bought. Accountability is a way to cover yourself and/or defend yourself so that you cannot be held liable. In my case, I would be where the “buck stops” and feel not only accountable but truly and ultimately responsible.
In today’s advanced world of technology, valuable information holds the same amount of worth that of new world currency. Since information is highly important, it is crucial that it remains secured. This is ultimately covered by data security and privacy. Online data is a hacker’s dream, as it holds the ultimate value of materials for these cybercriminals. For example, on a broader scale, banking information can be worth over a thousand dollars depending on the account balance. If cybercriminals get a hold of these information’s, it can be costly for businesses. On a smaller scale, for a small business, customer information theft can paralyze operations and even put a company out of business. In order to prevent these crimes, there are nine important data security policies that starts with ensuring data security accountability, policies that govern network services, scanning for vulnerabilities, managing patches, system data security policies, the response to incidents, acceptable use, monitoring compliance, and account monitoring and control.
Personal responsibility may be perceived in many ways, but it is imperative to understand the relevance of why it must begin with our self. First, one will never develop an attitude of responsibility if they always look for others to complete their task. It is a necessity that one has personal discipline or their efforts to be responsible will prove to be fruitless. Second, being responsible yields great rewards and acting responsible is a clear sign of maturity. A responsible individual looks to no one but self and no matter what the outcome; they are willing to stand by their decisions. (Maltby 2009), “Personal responsibility is concerned with people taking individual accountability for their decisions and actions, together with
In the previous slide, shared governance was discussed as a means of empowering all stakeholders in shared decision-making to improve organizational quality. The figure at the top of this slide is a shared accountability performance measure model that shows how patients, clinicians, and health systems contribute to process and outcome measures (Peterson, et al., 2014). The philosophy of shared accountability emphasizes that all stakeholders bring unique talents/skills/expertise that contribute to the success of the organization. No one stakeholder group is more or less important than the next group because all share equal responsibility for achieving defined goals. When a stakeholder group is struggling or unable to fulfill assigned responsibilities, the whole team fails because they mutually share responsibility or accountability for helping each partner reach the plan objectives. In other words, each team is not only invested in their own success, they are invested in each other’s success to achieve the goal. Identified stakeholders involved with this strategic plan include patients, providers, personnel, and payers. Listed below each stakeholder group are shared accountability behaviors/expectations that contribute to successful strategic goal achievement.
