All around us are the remnants of people that came before. Pieces of themselves left behind through bedtime stories, breakthrough science, and breathtaking art. You see and experience their memory every day. Everyone has left their mark in history but some people and some cultures can be felt in almost all aspects of life. One of these legacies belongs to Ancient Greece. Through establishing many of the sciences we use now, creating architecture that has influenced some of the most well-known buildings in the world, and by conceiving what we know today as the foundation of our country the Greeks have a larger impression on society than any other culture in history.
The Ancient Greeks have influenced life today more than anyone else by being some of the first to pursue a deeper understanding of the world around them. The Greeks revolutionized many fields of science that play major roles in our lives today. In astronomy, for example, they proposed the popular idea of planets that orbit a Sun. Now, scientists have taken on the considerable task of sending humans to Mars. Greek scientists also made large strides in medicine. By establishing his Hippocratic School of Medicine, Greek Hippocrates transformed medicine from any other science to a profession that all of us depend on today. As well as these advances in science, the Ancient Greeks

Ancient Greece is one is one of the most important civilizations in history. Why? Simply because they were the base of many things that we believe in, practice, or build upon today. Some examples are language, architecture, art, science, and much more. Over hundreds and thousands of years technology, agricultural techniques, weapons, and education has advanced and evolved. Many of these ideas not only started within Ancient Greece, but within other ancient civilizations as well. Have you ever wondered what life would have been like if the ideas and inventions that Ancient civilizations had uncovered had not been shared with other societies?
Today in America our medical system is similar. Doctors so whatever they can to help and patient and would never try to harm them. Another contribution to science was mathematics. A great contribution to mathematics can be seen in document five. Euclid made the discovery that vertical angles are equal. In America, this, along with many other mathematic discoveries is used every day in middle school and high school classes. Lastly, the Athenians were very philosophical. Thry questioned their own ideas and the ideas of others. This has been passed on to American society today. Scientists are constantly questioning their own theories and trying to find new answers. As you can see, Athenian science had a huge influence on western civilization.
Ancient Greek architecture advanced over hundreds years; starting in the new stone age, and ending in the archaic period. The Greeks are known for their large stone columns and huge stone buildings. Ancient architects are even credited for building one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the statue of Zeus at Olympia. The earliest buildings were
The Western world was highly influenced by the ancient Greeks. The Greeks changed the way the world looks at art, math, architecture, philosophy, sports, and drama. Without the ancient Greeks, the modern world would not be the same. Men such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle changed the way we look at philosophy. The Athenians created the first known democracy, setting the stage for future governments. The Euclidian Theorem and the Pythagorean Theorem among others made mathematics easier and more developed. Even current architecture can be traced back to the Parthenon and other pieces of Greek architecture. The Olympics even started in ancient Greece, creating one of the finest traditions the world has ever known. Without the ancient
The civilization of ancient Greece blossomed for more than 2,500 years ago but the ideas of the ancient Greeks continue to influence the way we live today. People of ancient Greece seeked to explain the world through the laws of nature. Greece produced many magnificent achievements in areas of science, philosophy arts and government that still influence our lives.
In general, democracy rested on the belief that the cumulative political wisdom of the majority of the voters would outweigh the eccentricity and irresponsibility of the few. (Martin 113)In addition to democracy, the Greeks most important contribution to Western civilization, many elements of modern culture are rooted in ancient Greece. Philosophers, especially Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates impacted the way people thought about the world around them. Greek architecture is still commonly used today, as evidenced by our use of pillars and columns. The ancient Greeks also excelled in sculpting. They figured out how to make graceful, emotional, and realistic statues which needed no additional support. Poetry, theatre, and drama also made up an important part of Greek culture. Some Greeks studied science, math, history, and their studies form the basis of many of todays theories. Science helped others understand a little more of these subjects. In Greece, as in todays world, science was based on observation, not myth, even though myths were considered an important part of life to every Greek. The Greeks are also considered to be the first people who recorded history only after consulting witnesses, forming the base of modern history.
The Greek influences inform modern American culture through their complex system of government, and from their advanced conceptual practices of modern-day mathematics. Also, the revolutionary progresses of this ancient era have impacted societies as a whole, from some of their ingenious inventions which have been innovated and modified into the most recognized designs of latter-day civilizations. Besides from informing, the Greeks not only continue to inspire American culture from their successes, but also, many other cultures of the world, and their artists, in distinction to the perceptive ancient art, poetry, and literature of that time.
Modern day architecture in America is greatly influenced by ancient Greek architectural styles, which include columns and decorative elements such as
Lastly, the most important areas of Greek achievement were math and science. They achieved all kinds of things in the areas of psychology, astronomy, geometry, biology, physics, and medicine. In astronomy they formulated the ideas that the sun was 300 times larger than the earth, the universe was composed of atoms, and they also calculated the true size of the earth. Someone that was greatly involved in astronomy was Aristotle. In geometry, ancient Greeks found the value of pi, and Euclid, who wrote the book Elements around 30 B.C., theorized that of two straight lines cut one another, the vertical, or opposite, angles shall be equal. In physics, the lever and pulley was invented along with a force pump which eventually evolved into a stream engine. Important people in this area were Archimedes and Pythagoras who were two of the many influential in the Greek citizens. Ancient Greece has definitely made many influential contributions to that of western civilizations.
Ancient Greece became a very influential civilization. Founded by the Minoans who first moved to the island of Crete in around 2000 B.C and lasted to about 1400 B.C. The Minoans developed an advanced civilization and expressed their culture in their constructed palaces. Great monuments were reached at Greece’s Golden Age from around 500 B.C to 300 B.C. They created long lasting contributions in subjects such as Philosophy, Military, Health, and Government.
The ancient Greeks have made many contributions to Western civilization in the areas of architecture, art, and dramas. For example the ancient Greeks believed delicate curves and columns add dignity and grace to buildings. This idea is still used today and is seen in many buildings such as the White House. Ancient Greek
Historians have long considered Ancient Greece to be one of the most influential societies on modern day life. Ancient Greece has inspired the modern world in five main areas: theatre, government, philosophy, art, and architecture.
Greece was the first culture to significantly raise the standards not only for philosophical ideals, mathematical methods & astronomical allegories, architectural influence, medical techniques, and much more, but also ultimately, the most substantial contribution they charted was theater pioneering. What was considered theatre back in ancient times is completely unrecognizable to what we are used to theater nowadays.
