One of his biggest contributions to Western Civilizations was the belief that logic and reasoning was critical for all people to have. The ancient Greeks have influenced the way nations run their people, the way people view knowledge and their lives, and the way people feel about their home and native country. All of these contributions that the ancient Greeks made are still prevalent not just in American culture, but in society as a whole. The ancient Greeks made several contributions to Western civilization such as the idea of democracy, philosophy, and value of patriotism and national pride. The idea of having a democratic government, which comes from the ancient Greeks, has influenced several nations around the world to govern their people with some form of democracy.

In addition to Politics and Science, Art and Architecture from Greece influenced Western civilization. The Athenians built many important building using long structures called columns, such as in the Parthenon (seen in document seven). These can be seen in many buildings across America, such as the Stock exchange and the Lincoln memorial. Another example of Athenian Art was the Olympics. Many cultures and religions have adapted their ideas from the ancient Greeks. Without the influences of the ancient Greeks our society wouldn’t be the way it is today. The Greek culture lasted from around 776 BCE to 146 BCE (though it is argued to have begun around 1000 BCE), during this time they invented many technologies and refined old technologies. The Greek civilization contributed greatly to the development of modern Western culture. Three of the most important contribution that are the foundations of our society are Language, Philosophy, and Government.

Ancient Greece had a major impact on the Western World due to many factors. Documents 1 and 2 reveal that the Western World has been impacted by political factors of the ancient Greeks, whille documents 4, and 5 show us that the Western World was impacted due to cultural reasons.

The Parthenon of Athens which was considered to be one of the finest example of Greek architecture. (Doc 3) the Parthenon was a place for trade praise and prayer. Octavian Augustus was a powerful leader. Octavian was the first emperor of Rome. There are many statues of this powerful Roman man. (Doc 7) Roman architecture promoted different forms of Ancient Greek architecture and some more recent technologies including the arch and the dome to create a more current architectural approach. Its use of new materials, specifically concrete, was an important aspect. Roman architecture expanded throughout the Empire . Both the roman and Greek societies used these ideas for monuments, statues and other architectural buildings, though Greece came up with newer technologies that helped change roman architecture. The Greek people started the worldwide tradition known as the Olympic. The first Olympic Games were help in Greece, Olympia long ago. Although the Greeks started this tradition as a form of entertainment, the rest of the world picked up on this which eventually made the Olympics one of the most well known things around the world. The Western civilization’s culture and outlook on life was shaped by ancient Greek. Many things the ancient Greeks created were the basis for what we use today, including, architecture, art, dramas, math, science, and philosophy.

The ancient Greek civilization contributed many great new ideas and aspects to everyday life that shaped and inspired the modern day society. Following America’s independence, they began to formulate their own unique ideas about the new world, all the while learning, adopting, and implementing ancient Roman and Greek ideology. Upon the creation of the United States government, our forefathers included elements of Greek and Roman culture. The country of Greece was originally never a distinct nation, as local cities formed individual political consensuses referred to as city-states. Each one was separated by tumultuous terrains of land and developed their own individual government. Corinth, one of the most powerful cities in Greece, was an oligarchy – a major city-state ruled by powerful political leaders.
