When I think of the word academy, I think of bettering your education on a path that better prepares you for your specific career interests. At an academy that is exactly what I am looking for. My goals for attending an academy, is to take classes that challenge my interests and to come out of the experience, better prepared for the life, I specifically, want to live. I am not looking for your average high school experience. My hope is that the academy system will set me on a path filled with, yes, the average school requirements, but also classes and extracurricular activities that will better my learning in a field that I am actually interested in. When I come out of the academy , my goals are to come out a changed person, to be able to
Hi. I am Diamond Johnson. I’ve been attending HSS-High since seventh grade and now I am currently a junior. I think I am a good role model at Harmony because I’m a very outgoing person and I also play sports, so I show others that you can be an athlete and also be on A/B honor roll. I am the captain of the basketball team because I have good sportsmanship and Leadership skills. I always encourage my other teammates or help them in an area they aren’t good in instead of judging them. I don’t just associate with people in my grade level I am opened to talking to anybody just so that they know that they will always have a friend to talk to. At Harmony we the students tend to create our group of friends based on race but I try to hang out with everybody just to show them that Harmony is a diverse school for a reason, so use that opportunity to learn about each other. I also believe that being a role model is not just temporary because someone is always watching your every move to learn from you. Therefore, they cannot learn from bad examples so you should always do the right things behind closed doors.
This will be my first quater at Drexel. From what I assume college finals will be a lot different from high school finals. In high school, I really would not do much to prepare finals. I would usually just study two days prior to the exam, because that would be all I needed. Typically I would make flash cards for all key terms and points and review those before the test. My study habits were not the best. However, having started college I believe that I have better learned how to study.
If Middle Football is Going to Last People Need to Get Their Head in the Game.
During the summer between my sophomore and junior years, I was one of four students selected to represent my school and council at the National Josten’s Renaissance conference in Orlando Florida. My fellow students and I learned a great deal about other schools around the country and we wanted to take some ideas back to our school to implement them. One of our key ideas focused on recognizing various students at our high school that constantly achieve remarkable feats, but largely go unnoticed by the school as a whole. Being vice president of my class, I took charge of this initiative and designed a solution to the problem. I advocated that we replace our typical, mundane, class meetings with class rallies, a pep rally type atmosphere for more
The Common School was established as an institution to help the elementary education in all aspects, as reading, writing, and arithmetic. In fact, the common school movement established the normal school as teacher-preparation institution, and elementary school of teaching for women. However, the common school was opened for all social level classes, and they focused more in a civic education. What this meant was the people were involved in their own self-government. Furthermore, the common school was divided in three part legislative stages. Permissive, encouraging, and compulsory, where the permissive stages were in charge of the organization for each single local school district. This encouraged a way to keep in charge of the election
My little cousin, Ella Jane, is in the stages of transitioning into middle school. A “skill” that I have recently mastered. A process that no one knew could be so challenging. That’s why I want to help correctly guide her down the path of priorities, extracurriculars, and friendships.
The high school student is involved with tons of activities from sports to clubs and tutoring. Limiting the week to four days will mess up everyone's schedule, especially the parents and students. Cutting the school week down to four days will hurt students more than it will help. Shortening the week will affect Friday night sport games and practices, the transportation of students , and having a taxing day.
Is it still cool to be in school? In high school, I was very involved with the school’s musical theatre program. I loved to act and sing, and I was pretty good at both, but I never got a part better than being in the ensemble. This was because I was not part of the “privileged” group of students.
My life has been a test since I turned into an online student. Every day I am currently battling to adjust coming home from being at work all night, my life and my school work are hard to balance. Just to let you know what I do at work my positions on my job is housekeeping supervisor and I work at Parkland Hospital Tuesday through Sunday, and I leave home going to work at 8:30 pm it takes me 35 minutes to get there so I won't be late. When I get there, I start getting thing ready for my employee’s. So, I must start printing material that everybody needs so when they come we will be ready to start our meeting with the staff and begin working. We prepare rooms for the patient to be checked- in the hospital. With every one of these obligations, my work night is full, and I regularly don't have time to take a break before it is 7:30 am and start my drive home.
First of all, middle school students part-time job meeting and learning conflict, thus affecting learning. If we go to work after school and vacation, there will be no time to attend to study, so students will learn less time. Besides, middle school students are easily confused by the material society, which will lead to the wrong idea of making money in the first place, which will lead to academic neglect. This is for the middle school students, it is to pick up the sesame and lost the watermelon!
My parents have said to work hard and do my best in school. I never understood why until I got older. The reason they told me to do my best in school was because they wanted me to think about school and my future. Both of my parents didn't get the chance to go to college. They both came to the United States looking for what most people come to the United States for ‘The American Dream’. They wanted a place where they could raise their children and find a stable job. Well what they had planned didn't work out. They found physically demanding jobs with low wages. I watched as they came home tired and stressed. Even through all the hardships they still maintained a positive attitude. They have pushed me to get better grades and to succeed in school.
Eighth grade graduation was a process. For me, it started out with the stress of find a dress that would not only suit my personality, but also look good. I had trouble with this aspect of the graduation procedure. Nothing ever seemed to fit and was always in the wrong color. This was until I found the one that I’d walk across the stage in. A little boutique in Greenville, North Carolina, seemed to be the best place to find the perfect dress. Next was the shoes and jewelry. I found a quaint, little shoe store, and came upon a treasure trove of gold and jewels when we walked down the street to see the other shops. The worse was over
My elementary years can be described in one word, melodramatic. I went to a small private school names Victory in the Perryton Texas. My class had a around 15 kids in it and it only got smaller with each year. In preschool and kindergarten, my mom decided to “homeschool” me. In other words i didn't really learn anything, i just had more time to be a kid. I loved and when it came time to starting first grade i was actually very excited to be in school. Unfortunately i was quite a bit behind. I didn't know how to read, spell anything, and i was so much slower than the rest of my class when it came to completing my assignments. The whole i was one of the last kids in the class to complete all of the assignments. Then one day my principal, who was good friends
The first day of freshman year was a new feeling coming from the feelings of being the top dogs and now at the bottom again. The first sight of Dubuque Senior was as though I’m going to the wrong place. This place wasn’t a school. It was a prison with a big parking lot. I had excitement because of my thoughts on what high school could be for me because of the movies that my older siblings watched. Once I entered the school I could feel the potential and the aroma of great people who walked through these doors and became something great and useful to the world. The pressure pressed more when my teachers gave me my expectations. The school had walls as white as the snow on a mountain top. High school was this opening to make choices. High school
