My life has been a test since I turned into an online student. Every day I am currently battling to adjust coming home from being at work all night, my life and my school work are hard to balance. Just to let you know what I do at work my positions on my job is housekeeping supervisor and I work at Parkland Hospital Tuesday through Sunday, and I leave home going to work at 8:30 pm it takes me 35 minutes to get there so I won't be late. When I get there, I start getting thing ready for my employee’s. So, I must start printing material that everybody needs so when they come we will be ready to start our meeting with the staff and begin working. We prepare rooms for the patient to be checked- in the hospital. With every one of these obligations, my work night is full, and I regularly don't have time to take a break before it is 7:30 am and start my drive home. …show more content…
I have three Dogs so I spend quite a bit of my morning preparing and cleaning their room, at that point I need to cook my supper for my husband before I can begin with homework, and let my better half know I make it home safely then he wants to stay on the phone to discuss his work schedule that he is doing. After talking with him I go pay the bills that do and sometimes I do the yard work cutting and trimming the grass for excise, however, along these lines, I selected to in roll in Penn Foster's Veterinary Technician program. I think that it’s difficult to finish school during my different duties. I am as of now taking English
My busy schedule has become quite the running joke amongst my classmates. If I’m not at school or sleeping, you can be sure to find me in the dance studio, studying for tests during my five minute breaks. My unwillingness to consider homeschooling and instead choosing to juggle homework, projects and tests with my everyday training/performance schedules can be very overwhelming. However, if given the opportunity, I wouldn’t have done it any other way. All the late nights spent finishing projects and doing homework in the car has shaped me into the student that I am today.
Hi Octavia. I also stated some of the same challenges you stated. It’s hard finding a balance between work, family, and studying. You want to be able to interact with your family once you leave work, but your focus should be on reading the next chapter. With me I can get side tracked easily. I’ll end up helping my little girl with her work and then she’ll want to go out for dinner or to play. Once I start to interact with her I lose track of everything. When everything is over, I have to go to bed for work. It’s hard but you have to have self-control. I must say in the past when I was taking online classes I had a great support team. My boyfriend was very understanding and supportive. Someone from my class was always available. It was a great
Process Analysis Essay Making the decision to go back to school while working full time is not an easy one, the one advantage to this being that Penn Foster offers online courses. However, I find it challenging to balance both work, family life and school work. What started out as a great plan for the advancement of my career has turned into a balancing act. I find I now have less time in the day to truly accomplish all I have to do and stay on top of my classwork and lab assignments. There always seem to be one appointment or paper that I have to turn in late no matter how I try and with this in mind I have had to explore several time management techniques to help balance out my work load and ones that I find work not just for me and my peers but for other students who find themselves in a similar situation.
So, you know that. You know those are things that I can, at some point can separate, work I can but you know school is always on a constant you know mind, consistently, even when I’m at work I sometimes wanna try to you know, squish in some of that you know, school work that I have to do for last minute you know. I, and then that really overwhelms me because at work, because it’s like I wanna do my job, my duty, but then I also have on one end, okay I have a deadline, I have to do this.
First, our family's dynamics. Right, wrong, or indifferent, our family has dynamics that may not be in play in your "typical" student's family. I say this as a precursor to this... I believe your priorities and ours may not always match, but hopefully the success of Emma, the child of topic, does match. First of all, my husband and I both work advanced careers. Many days I leave as early as 6am and get home as late as 6pm, and some days, I work until 9pm or later. Jeremy and I switch off working late many times as well. I have two children with special needs and have hundreds of appointments each year to attend, which also means at times, I work in
It is not enough that I have to help him play kids’ games because he can not read the instructions. I must have dinner ready before my wife comes home at 9:00 PM. After taking dinner and cleaning the kitchen, I get a chance to check the letters and bills in the Mailbox and clean the entire house every other night. Weekends are a little bit different than weekdays. My weekend responsibilities include; groceries shopping for the week, laundries, taking my son to one of the fun places nearby and cleaning the house inside and out. On the top of all those responsibilities, I volunteer as an IT support for OHRC, a non-profit organization. I get email requests to add new users, design flyers, create a database and update their website and with new information. Despite all those responsibilities, I decided to enroll in Penn Foster College to get an Associate degree in PC Mentaininence Technology with a hope of enhancing my knowledge and career to the next level. To complete the semester, I must log into the portal and work on the course at least once a day. I sit for studies after dinner but cannot stay later than 11:30 PM as I am exhausted due the activities at work and
Life at home and life at school are two very distinct worlds. Life at home is working to help or support the family, meanwhile life at school is doing homework and studying for classes and tests. Balancing life between school and home is tough. Some first generation college students go through this every day. They have school work that might be due within a few days but they’re too busy working to support their family to do anything college related.
Having a job and being a student is not an easy task, you need to find the time to do both in a way that it doesn’t take over your life. Therefore, I compose time for myself by doing methods that I enjoy doing, like playing video games and taking a short nap after a long day of work before heading to school.
While working flag football 2-3 days a week and volunteering at the Morristown Interfaith Food Pantry once a week, it has often been overwhelming to strike a balance between working, and my family. Since my parents are divorced, I am tasked with driving my brothers home from school and making sure they’re where they need to be during the day, whether it be a tutor or a sports practice. Throughout the fall, I have often found myself driving one of my brothers around, then driving home my other brother, and finally racing to get to work on time. Despite often being short on time, devising a balance between work and family, in accordance with sports and school, has taught me to manage my time wisely, and make sure my family is taken care of, which will be stepping stones in my ability to succeed at Penn
When I think of the word academy, I think of bettering your education on a path that better prepares you for your specific career interests. At an academy that is exactly what I am looking for. My goals for attending an academy, is to take classes that challenge my interests and to come out of the experience, better prepared for the life, I specifically, want to live. I am not looking for your average high school experience. My hope is that the academy system will set me on a path filled with, yes, the average school requirements, but also classes and extracurricular activities that will better my learning in a field that I am actually interested in. When I come out of the academy , my goals are to come out a changed person, to be able to
When I was a junior, I was very busy with two jobs, sports, and tough classes. Going from pre-calculus, to Honors English 11, to college biology, and then to U.S. history, left my brain is fried. After my classes were over, I would leave school and head to one job as a photography assistant. After work, I would attend either football or wrestling practice as a student manager. After practice I had a half an hour to sneak a quick meal in before I headed to my second job as a certified nursing assistant. I would get off at 9:00 or maybe later depending on the staff present. Physically and mentally exhausted, I would get home and attempt to start my homework. The time it took to finish homework varied depending on the amount, but on average I
Another area of importance is to make sure to leave work on time. This will avoid eating up your hours that could be applied to coursework or time with family. Leaving work on time will also help keep you from stressing out too much. I, unfortunately, don’t get the opportunity much to leave work on time. I always have to make sure patients have been discharged, all veterinarians are finished with their clients, and every boarding animal is back safely in their cage. I try to make up for the loss time by spending a few extra hours studying before bed, or spending more quality time with my husband. Family is another part of prioritizing. Never let your schoolwork consume your time with family. Make sure to keep them informed and up to date on when you will be focusing on your schoolwork. Your family should always be there to support you, and they should always understand your need to succeed. They will be your rock and give you the positive push to keep on learning. You should give them a copy of your calendar and even see if there are areas where they might be able to help you with studies. I would recommend that you delegate tasks and write them in your calendar as well. Set days of the week, where you’ll do the cooking and cleaning, and rotate the following week with your
This year in 8th grade, my fellow students and I were taught several skills in Geometry, Language Arts, Science, P.E, and History. Many of these skills I have learned in these classes can benefit me in my high school years. From these skills, the first skill I believe will help immensely in high school is time management. The second skill that I've found beneficial is the ability to think and act quickly. Finally, the third and most important skill is the ability to concentrate on assignments. These three skills will definitely help make high school be less difficult and much more comfortable.
First of all, students who try to juggle job and school responsibilities find trouble at school. Early morning classes, for example, are particularly difficult for me. Because
When the end of summer approached, I believed I was prepared of what 7th grade was going to throw at me. I was wrong. I had tons of homework. School overall was stressful. The best way to solve this problem was to not procrastinate, it was my main goal this school year. Reducing the amount of time playing on electronics would not only make my school life less stressful, but making my parents happier about me not playing as much as I usually do.
