English 111 Pre-test Essay Hardest thing I have ever done When I stop to think about what shaped me to make me what I am today I can only think of one thing and it was the hardest thing I had ever done. That thing was when I had to learn how to let go. What had happened was that I had a dog named Rocky and it was one of the best dogs I have ever owned and I was little so I didn't think that I would ever lose him and I held on to him for the longest time. But then one day he got extremely sick and we tried to help him to get better but he just got worse to the point that he had stopped eating and could barely move and my dad knew that we had to put him down so that he wouldn’t be in any more pain. But I kept trying to tell my dad that he would
In the past two months i fell like i have accomplished a great deal. As i focus on it more i realize i have become a better reader. I did this by concentrating on my readings and take my time to read them. With the help of my professor and classmates i began to analyze what i read.
Soft moonlight lit the land and sea kindly, almost as if it were giving gentle kisses. It kissed the sea and the waves it formed, it kissed the drowsy ship which laid on said water, it kissed the sand the waves lapped at, it kissed the grassy cliff above the shore, and it kissed the girl who slept on said cliff.
Writing 205 has taught me more then just writing stratagies, it has taught me who I am as a writer. Throughout the course of the semester I have learned new strategies, techniques, and tools that have helped me develop as a writer, as well as establishing my voice. Through vigorous course work I can say that I am more educated on writing skills in addition to annotating sources and genres. Reflecting back on this past semester I see how each unit has branched from each other as a guide for what was to come next. This made going from unit to unit flow in a natural way to achieve the best final product.
I learned many new things from English 1102 class. It was not much fun but I learned some interesting things. For my research, I needed a topic that interests me. I first started to search topics from the chemistry field. I could not find any interesting topics then I came across an article that talks about how robots will take our jobs and every one would be jobless. After reading that article, I was really convinced that robots were bad for human society and people should be focusing on improving other fields such as medicine than wasting time and money in inventing a robot, which is one type of luxury and that, will take our jobs. So I chose this topic for my research. For further discussions, I started searching for some more article about robots not good for human society and I found that there was not much about the negative impact of robots in human society other than taking human jobs. So I was stuck but then I found an article that supports the robots. It was a good article and it explains how robots are useful in human society. The Article says that robots will create new jobs and benefit employers, government and disable people. I also found in one article saying that if robots will do our jobs humans can focus on bigger problems like finding cures for diseases, finding solution to prevent natural disasters and many more. Therefore, I decided to support the robot’s positive impact rather than supporting
In English 1102 students will learn many different techniques throughout the course to understand and compose an analysis on an array of topics. After the course is over it is up to the students to apply what they have learned to everyday life. Many students throughout this course have questioned why they have to learn this material and that it will not even help them in the real world, but they are wrong. Each and everyday people should look at the deeper meaning and analyze situations very carefully or else one may find themselves being deceived. Being able to analyze is a very important skill no matter what career choice you choose. In this course the material assigned also had many life lessons in them. A great example of a reading assignment

The basic assumptions of classical theory of crime causation is the belief that the majority of human beings are are fundamentally rational and that human behavior is the result of free will, meaning that people should be free to choose how they act.

This week, the most difficult part of the reading assignment was section 1.7 Transformations. While the beginning was easy enough for me to follow I soon started to become bogged down with the number of types. I counted seven definitions in the chapter, all rather long, that included vertical shifts, horizontal shifts, reflections, vertical scalings, horizontal scalings and transformations. I read the entire section at least five times and the examples, especially towards the end of the section, a few times more before understanding it well enough to at-tempt the exercises. The examples were really good and had an artistic quality about them which I found interesting. Thinking back on the reading it was the tables themselves that con-fused me and which I needed to follow close, and with greater thought, to really understand. Even though there’re meant to further comprehension, which after careful following they do, it took me a few read overs. Sometimes getting lost in all the x, (x,f(x)), f(x), g(x) = f(2x), etc.. overwhelmed me and I had to move forward and come back to it later. I will give credit as the section was well explained well by the authors.

Substance abuse and consumption have become an epidemic in America. The use of drugs results in countless drug-related deaths and causes states to spend billions of dollars to combat drug trafficking. Drugs are shipped in by sea, air, automobile, and even smuggled in by person. These drugs are supplied by drug cartels. These criminal organizations where formed to promote, control, produce, and distribute narcotic drugs. While these cartels operate from all parts of the world, some of the most infamous are the Mexican and Columbian Cartels. America has put policies into combating drug trafficking, however these policies are not
I’m only human and have gotten attached, but for me the hardest animal to give back was a small mix breed puppy. We had named this puppy Milo. Milo came to our house with his two litter mates. His litter mates were healthy and were fixed and adopted within a few weeks, however Milo wasn’t so lucky. He was the runt of the litter and had infections in both eyes. To help get rid of the infections I had to put medicine in his eyes multiple times a day. He was so small and weak my mom and I were both worried he might get cold in the middle of the night, so to keep him warm he slept in my bed with me in a cocoon of blankets. After a few weeks Milo’s eyes started to clear up. When we took him to the vet they were surprised by how well his eyes had healed. They told us when they first say him they didn’t think his eyes would have healed so well. I took care of Milo for about a month, so by the time it was time to give him back it was hard to let them take him. I think the reason this one was different the other times I had gotten attached was because I nursed him back to health and he became like my baby.
I did my best to be careful around him, asking if he needs help,”Do you need any help uncle Tom”,”I can get that for you uncle Tom”.Just seeing him become weaker and weaker every passing day made me wish I could somehow transfer his cancer in my own body. Being seven at the time I did not have a full understanding of how serious his condition was. The radiation from his chemotherapy made him so weak that he had trouble walking around the house without someone assisting him. Whenever I would ask him if he needed help walking he would first smile, then he would say to me “No thank you Mia, I need to do this myself”. Just watching him decline my help and try to walk on his own
