When people think of monsters, the first thing that pops into their head is Frankenstein, zombies, creatures of the night. Monsters are scary. Monsters in society reveal peoples fears and anxieties, their preconceived notions of normality, and represent the unknown.

The National English Honor Society would let me interact with a diverse group of students. Joining the Society would give me a chance to take trips to colleges and other places to learn new things. If accepted to the Society I would dedicate my time to it and not be distracted by anything that will take away from my education. Writing has always inspired me which is a big part of English it is a good way to express yourself it is the way I express myself. Joining the English Honor Society would all around help me stay in track with my education.

In American society, we believe that monsters are typically perceived as scary, with big teeth and claws, and gross looking. Sometimes they are hairy and smelly. In popular stories, we think of them as the villain ninety five percent of the time, but they can also be supporting roles to the main villain who doesn’t look as monstrous or doesn’t have monstrous actions. Dartmouth College dates back to the early days of America, founded in 1769 by “the Rev. Eleazar Wheelock”. It was actually founded for the purpose of giving education to native Americans, and there was one native American who helped raise the money needed for the college, in this way being interesting because the Indians often had hostile feelings towards the whites. It was an interesting idea to create a college mainly meant to educate the Indians, who were from the white’s view uneducated and barbaric, and that the college would go on to become as prominent as it has.

A freshman college level English Composition course aims to improve students' abilities with writing, critical thinking, mechanics and usage, punctuation, grammar, and vocabulary. By studying English 101 at Luzerne County Community College, I will work diligently to improve in all of these aspects. My main focus is to develop skills specifically to create clear and concise thesis statements, strong and persuasive essays with cajolement, and to develop different perspectives on narratives and other essays. These writing skills may also improve my critical thinking and reading skills.

Upon entering English 111 on-line class, I had not taken an English class on-line before. In the past I have taken several other basic classes. English has always been a struggle for me, mainly writing and grammar. Neither, writing or grammar has come natural to me. The biggest challenge for me is putting my thoughts into words.

“Tatum isd, where every student is special.” Our school, Tatum high, just received a large cash gift for having the highest test scores around. I believe we should use the money to update the most important, crucial, productive, and beneficial things to all students. They really need to modernize the restrooms and the transportation, those, to me and many others, are two of the biggest problems at our school.

Throughout this semester we have had to write many types of essays. Although this is a college English class there is still room for improvement. I made much improvement during the semester of the class. I was able to identify my weaknesses. I learned how to make improvements to the areas I was having problems in. Although each essay we did was different I was able to begin with one essay and throughout the semester turn it into two other essays. I was able to change my style of writing to fit the type of audience I was working with. I will continue to work on my writing and keep improving it.
