Attending Cross Creek Early College High School is interesting to me because I will be able to complete high school and some college courses at the same time. I have always dreamed of going to college and this is school will allow me to get a head start on my goals and ambitions. My goal is to be the first person in my family to attend and graduate from college with a bachelor’s degree. Here you need to explain your career goal or what you want to major in. It is my belief that Cross Creek Early College will provide me with the support to reach this goal and to let my other family members know that a college degree will allow me to be a productive citizen. I have never been suspended from school. My parent raised me to know that school is a place of learning therefore I should attend school and adhere to all rules. Here explain how you received a citizenship award or “Terrific Kid”. I pride myself on the fact that I have developed great relationships with all my teachers and classmates. It is my belief that community service is something that will make me a well-rounded individual. Even though I am only in the eighth grade I know that I can give back to my community. I have done my research and discovered that I can volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Cumberland County. Based on my research I know that I can complete 50 hours at the facility with my parents. My parent and I plan to complete the volunteer orientation so that I can give back to my community by volunteering at the Second Harvest Food
Royalton High School follows a 7 period day schedule, 50 minutes class periods, typically 5 days a week beginning at 8:15am and ending at 3:22pm. A regularly scheduled day consists of seven four minute passing periods and a 15 minute homeroom at the end of the day. Homeroom is not considered as a scheduled class, and even though it is not required, it is still beneficial to many students. The sole purpose of homeroom is to inform students of extracurricular activities, scholarships and college visits, the announcements, and reduce class absences.
This past summer I participated in Camp Holy Cross where I donated my time ad counseled kids from eight to three each day. I worked in the field thus I had to set up games, instruct them and take care of the kids while they were there. Another event I participated in with my church was the soup kitchen. This is where members of the Church’s youth group get together and put on a dinner. I also participated in the crop walk. This is where we collect donations to fight hunger and then walk six miles around Dalton. Therefore my community service shows how I give back, and another reason why I should be
Freshman 101 is a class adapted from the parrot program (Fay & Medway, 2006, p. 226). The parrot program was designed for college students at Cornell University. Freshman 101 is the first of its kind in the state of South Carolina and the first to extend Parrot’s college program to high school freshmen (p. 226). Each two-hour intervention class contained 25 to 30 freshmen students. The objectives of the class were to have participants understand the definition of acquaintance rape and the frequency that it takes place along with South Carolina’s laws regarding rape (p. 226). Students also learned about mixed messages associated with verbal and non-verbal communication and how to clearly state their wants and desires (p. 227). Communication,
I believe that Polk County Early College High School would be a great school for me because of smaller class sizes and more one on one opportunity with teachers. I feel that I thrive in that kind of setting because you can feel free to ask for help if needed, and it will be provided much more easily than in a larger class room. I also love the opportunity that the school provides to be able to earn college credits while attending high school. I am a very self motivated person and being able to complete work at my own pace would be significant. If I am working at my own pace I will be given the chance to work ahead and cover more material which is great. I think Polk County Early College would be the perfect school for me because I would be
Early College High School at Delaware State University is a place to save time and money, and earn up to at least 60 college credits in high school. If I were to describe ECHS in one sentence, I would say that they move very quickly, but are very helpful. Although this school is very helpful there is a downfall, that downfall is that they are unorganized. One thing that made my 9th grade year here at The Early College High School at Delaware State University more smoothly was that some of my teachers had a sense of humor which made the environment feel a lot more positive and it made me feel comfortable that this school isn’t severely strict. Freedom is all about being independent and making your own choices and decisions. Freedom is about not having to listen to other people and being able to do what you want and when you want to. With making all these choices on your own requires responsibility. Responsibility and freedom go hand in hand with each other.
Prompt 1: What are your memories of starting school? How do they compare with Daniel's and Emily's. Do you also have memories of after-school child care?
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This quote from Nelson Mandela always clicked with me, because while many things can change the world, education is always at the root of it. The Ottawa County Early College program is an opportunity for me to practice with this essential tool. I feel that I am a good fit for the program because I have passion for my studies, am proactive in them, and I flourish under challenge. This amazing program excites me because it will help me to achieve my overall goal for my education; to positively impact the world. While I have many different ideas with what I want to do with my education, Early College will allow me to explore many different paths within a budget I
It was the end of the 1st semester of my sophomore year and I was discussing classes with my counselor, the fact that I was joining AVID I knew in that moment I realized that I had to take school more seriously. College is just around the corner, I knew that I needed to make a change and be more responsible in my life. When my counselor told me in order to be in the program you have to maintain a good GPA. It helps that I've always had decent grades throughout my life in school so that wasn’t a problem.
Many schools in the United States begin classes before 8:30 a.m. I’m sure many people can remember or relate to waking up very early in the morning and completing the grueling task of getting out of bed and going to school. It is very likely that you had days where it was difficult for you to pay attention in class because of your exhaustion. I myself have a question. What is the purpose of having students begin classes so early? While I don’t know the answer to this question, I do know why you should disagree with this.
Throughout my life I have been always searching for how to better myself and how to get closer to God. Growing up I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to go to Catholic Schools starting at the age of four years old and then ending it when I was eighteen. Attending Catholic Schools my whole life has helped me to prepare myself for what the future holds. Going to church every week during the school year I learned a lot about different types of passages and ways of dealing with my life. I have been attending West Valley for almost two years and I miss being able to have religion classes and going to church as a part of my daily schedule.
In a recent survey 97% of students done at Yucaipa High said that school should start after 8:00am.For this reason school should start at 8:40 am,this will cause less car accidents, students stress will decrease, and grades overall will increase. If school started later students will have an extra hour to prepare for their day.
Now that I have been through half a year of high school, there are many things that Freshman should need to know coming into it next year. The most major thing is that this is taken way more serious than middle school because this actually counts toward something. Next they should just do their work because if they don’t then they will struggle to bring their grade back up. Also, they need to listen more to what the teacher is saying because it is crucial to know how to do something on a project or homework. Last, is to just not be scared or nervous coming into high school because it isn’t difficult, we have all been through it so there is not anything to be nervous about.
“If at first you don’t succeed, try try again,” these are the words by William Edward Hickson that were constantly played in my head over and over again, from freshman year to junior year, and soon senior year. It is relevant to me because junior year has been a tough year and has challenged me in so many ways, such as with AP tests, projects, and presentations, but I never give up on them and even if I ever had to guess on tests I would try to choose an answer that would make sense. I have had many failures and disappointments over the years I have had here, and sometimes it genuinely brings me down to the point where I start to give up on everything and then I start to doubt myself, but luckily my teachers and family have been there
As everyone knows, freshman year can be very rough. Last year, i learned that the hard way. Over the Course of time, I learned a lot. It all started When i was the typical, naive freshman girl, and started to give into pressure, and started to go downhill and pushed myself towards the wrong path. I was so young, and so stupid, little did I know it’d lead into a year and a half of self destructive behavior and tendencies.
