Dear Mrs. Christina, March 7, 2016 It satisfies me to be able to write this letter to inform you the best practices occurring in my classroom. Recently, my students’ wrote an autobiography from his/her childhood and also researched a place he/she traveled to. This activity supported the cross-disciplinary examination of English and History. First, my students’ worked on several worksheets to help them brainstorm on events in his/her life that lead up to his/her autobiography. In order to help each other’s thoughts to develop the students’ were able to interact with one another by sharing his/her experiences. In the drafted autobiography the students wrote in great detail about places they had traveled to. Later, they researched about the place they traveled to, but this time, they wrote about experiences they wish they could have had. Finally, the students’ shared with his/her classmates about his/her experiences and spoke about experiences they wish they could have in the future. • Elizabeth A. Wardle. (2004) Article: Can Cross-Disciplinary Links help us Teach “Academic Discourse” in FYC? Wardle’s article claims that cross-disciplinary teaching in writing is beneficial to the students’ because it teaches them to become successful writers not only in English but in other classes as well. My class took geographical skills and developed them into writing successfully.
• Margaret Letterman and Kimberley Dugan (2004) Article: Team Teaching A Cross-Disciplinary Honors Course Letterman and Dugan argue that collaborative teaching helps students’ enthusiasm and promotes interdisciplinary
