Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PS4 are the next generation gaming consoles. These next gen consoles are all the rage. Just like their previous versions, fans are arguing over which is better. So let's take a look at the similarities and differences between these two monsters in the video game industry.
Starting off for the consoles, we have the PlayStation 4 on one hand, which takes the shape of a slim parallelogram, while on the other hand we have the Xbox One, which is slightly bulkier, but comes bundled with a Kinect. In short, the Kinect is a motion sensor, which allows the user to control his or her Xbox without using a remote. The PS4 tries to emulate this with the addition of the Eye, which is a ripoff of Microsoft's Kinect. PS4’s
If you've never touched a video game controller in your life, but do have avid players in your household, you may be in for a bewildering month. That's because we're on the verge of what the gaming industry excitedly calls 'a new console generation'. In short, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, once the most powerful games machines on the planet are being replaced – the former by the Xbox One, the latter by the PlayStation 4 (PS4).
The interface for the Xbox one is excellent because of how organised it is. On the Xbox you can easily find your games, social media, and the store. The Xbox one when you go from one app to another you hear a nice calm whooshing sound that isn’t annoying or can get stuck in your head. That is the exact opposite with the Playstation the sound is a bloop it is very annoying and it can get stuck in your head. Another great feature is the keyboard on the Xbox one it is very easy access. The keyboard on
Some features for the Xbox include paddles, changeable buttons, and adjustable triggers. Some Playstation features include adaptive triggers, built-in microphone, and touchpad. Both controllers have the same buttons and controls that provide unique features to enhance the gaming experience. The final topic is the gameplay on both consoles. As time went on, they both upgraded in performance and graphics.
“The PS4, for instance, has a larger and faster graphics processing unit than the Xbox One (its peak GPU shader throughput hits 1.84 teraflops per second while the Xbox One manages 1.31). Likewise, Sony's console has more advanced RAM (5500MHz GDDR5 versus the Xbox One's 2133MHz DDR3)” (Leaño). This allows the PS4 to run the games at just a hair higher quality. Not a big deal overall as the difference is not noticeable unless you put them side by side. On top of that, the One has a far more intuitive Operating System (OS) than the PS4. The OS on the One allows it to run apps in the background or use the snap feature on most apps to have it alongside your game or current window. How is this useful? First of all, you can use the snap feature to watch your favorite shows or have a GameFAQs page open on the side. Want to Skype your friends or play music in the background? No problem, because the Xbox can multitask and will leave those apps running back there! Your multitasking options are wide open and simpler than ever now that you can do it all without leaving the
The PS4 is much thinner and looks better than an Xbox One. I mean really who wants a huge gaming system anyways? Unlike the Xbox One the PS4 has the cooling vent on the back of the system, so if you need to anything on it you could without overheating it. Also unlike the Xbox the PS4’s USB ports are in the front like a normal gaming console. Now for the PS4’s UI, it’s a whole lot simpler and to me it’s much neater. The user interface has to distinct sections, lower half of the UI is the main menu where you can access recently used apps and games, the upper half is used for the systems tools and
The PS4’s DualShock 4 controller is the more innovative controller, featuring a clickable touchpad and LED light bar in the top that can display a player’s in-game status, usually by changing colour depending on amount of health left, and can also be used with the PlayStation Camera for motion control. The DualShock 4 also has a curvier body with the shoulder buttons and bumpers sitting more comfortably at the top and the Face button have been increased in size when compared with the previous generation controller. The Xbox controller has been considered by many, including myself, to be the gold standard of gaming, with the D-pad and left thumb stick trading places so the thumb stick is in the more optimal position, but Microsoft have revamped it for the One by improving the feel of the sticks and changing the D-pad so it’s no longer all attached on one large circle of plastic making the directions stand out more clearly.
Now I actually see why but at the same time I don’t. Yes I know the Xbox has compatibility but the PS4 has Playstation Now which gives you the ability to stream a library of games remotely via the internet. That’s obviously for the gamers but it’s stupid that you have to do all the steps just to have a feature that already comes with an Xbox. Yes they both of the consoles have the same feature
The least that can come out of it are hackers, and that’s on every game system, but there aren’t that many problems with the Ps4 it’s a proven fact that it’s better than Xbox One. Other than the fact that hackers may have shut it down a couple years ago but it hasn’t happened ever since. Sony sold twice as many Ps4s as Microsoft did with the Xbox Ones. It’s like Ps4 came out and Xbox One decided to rush their way out so Microsoft fans would buy them. Microsoft and Sony are both very successful companies, but I’ve researched multiple sites and they all prove that Sony is a better company than Microsoft is.
What is more fun than sitting down and playing a video game? How about sitting down and playing a video game with a buddy! Multiplayer games are always a blast to play because it is a totally different experience for gamers to play games with others. Both the Xbox One and the PS4 have terrific multiplayer games. Let's take a look at the PS4 multiplayer games and the Xbox One multiplayer games
The ps4 pro is a strong machine. The people must agree because the ps4 has sold 52 million copies as the Xbox one has only sold 21 million.the ps4 can go up to 6.0 teraflops of power in full 1080p but the xbox one can go to 3 teraflops and maybe close to 6 teraflops in 4k but it's a rare coincidence
I am doing my essay over Playstation Four and Xbox one. I personally think the PS4 (Playstation Four) is better in my opinion but there are many, many people who play both consoles, all though there will always be a so called “rivalry” between the two consoles. Starting with Playstation Four, many people seem to choose it over the Xbox One for multiple reason. Such as the controller having a better feel to it, the games that come out for the PS4, and just the overall quality of the console. The PS4 and XB1 (Xbox One) have some of the same features but they both have features that make one better than the other.
Otherwise, the way the PlayStation 4 runs is what I like about it, When you first turn it on it doesn't make allot of noise and the main menu on the PlayStation looks very cool and neat at the same time. Xbox on the other hand I'm not really a fan of. The only thing I really liked about it was the way it looked, And I mean (Looks only) The size of the freaking thing is like 10x a normal brick and the power source thing that you plug into the wall to power it on is like a freaking brick, Unlike PlayStation 4 which uses a normal size AC power cord and the PlayStation 4 itself isn't even as big as the Xbox one.
Another reason that PlayStation is better is that it has better graphics. The ps1,2,and 3 all had better graphics than the Xbox and Xbox 360. The ps4 and ps4 pro both play in 5.0 GHz while the Xbox one plays in 2.1. The ps4 also has the 4k VR headset that plays in 120Hz. The Xbox one had to have 4 different models to have better graphics than the ps4.
The Xbox one has a built in blu ray DVD player and faster processing. It has 12GB and hard drive has 500GB. The Xbox one is bigger and boxier than the 360, also makes no noise when it is running. When the Xbox 360 was released it was $400 and now it is only $80.
PS4 only other competition is Nintendo’s Wii U. Nintendo since GameCube focused more on younger gamers because it could not keep up with the mature rating games that both Sony and Microsoft released. With Nintendo taking a back step, PS4 only real competition was Xbox One. Playstation 4 has not looked back since their launch date. By early February 2014 they have sold over five million units, compare to Xbox One three million units.
