One example of common error in judgment is snap judgments (decisions made before all necessary information or facts are gathered. Often people attempt to solve a problem before it is even determined exactly what the problem is). I have had this experience in the past when my sister told me that my mother was taking all her kids and family on a cruise and I got really excited and bought everything I needed for the trip just to find out that my mother had not said that. Another example that was given is sweeping generalizations (based on one experience and generalized to a whole group). For example in my experience my kids are always being real quiet when they are in to something they are not supposed to be in, so when they are being really quit I assume that they are in to something. It 's not, always the case though there has been quite a few times that they got really quiet and I went and checked on them and they were just playing and being good. The next example that I am going to discuss are stereotypes (judgments and over generalization held by a person or a group about members of another group). This example to me really stuck out from personal experiences. I have heard a lot of people talk about how when people are over weight and fat that they just eat all the time and do not take care of themselves, however this is not always the case. Some people have health problems that cause them to be overweight. (Critical thinking a multidimensional
When people have different upbringings then it can be difficult to make them see how some of the values they were raised with may be discriminatory (1), one way to attempt to overcome this could be by including various different examples of discrimination within
The book Seedfolks is about the city Cleveland, that has families with low incomes, and poor conditions. Overtime, you see the garden struggle through things, such as divided cultures/ ethnicities, and the heartwarming joy of people finally feeling like they belong somewhere. Although the garden has many good things about it, there are many people who stereotype, and think lesser of people who are different races. Although many of the people in Seedfolks struggle against stereotypes, the book shows that all people are the same and you shouldn’t judge anyone for their races and traditions. For example, in the book there are many characters who stereotype others, such as Ana and Amir.
Presumption can reveal false constructive attitudes about other people's ways. For instance, we in the urban industrial society often think of people from India as being "money hungry and intruders" although this view fails to identify that there are many emphasis in their way of life, with the contribution to communities. False optimistic presumptions can be just as deceptive as false unconstructive assumptions.
Generalization is quite similar to satire, they both acknowledge the truth and specify the events/cases. Which is great for essays because in most cases you have to state a truth based off of specific events and be able to support it with evidence. Ex. 1: “Cats are meaner than dogs.” Ex. 2: “Most people find church boring.” Ex. 3: “Homework is easy.” http://examples.yourdictionary.com/examples-of-generalization.html Logical fallacy: Errors in reasoning used by speakers or writers, sometimes in order to dupe their audiences. Use: Logical fallacy was used in Julius Caesar when Antony and Brutus spoke upon Caesar’s death. Antony was the one to stoop down and flip Brutus’s words, however he did indeed use money to gain their trust. When he
Stereotyping was used a lot in to Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee . It was shown a lot against Tom Robinson in the court case. Also, with Dolphus Raymond Supposedly being a drunk. Lastly it was used against Boo being a terrible person and creepy. Those are just some of the ways the book to kill a mockingbird shows the impact stereotyping has on people, and how it can affect their life.
Stereotypes and generalizations have negatively depicted the image and character of individuals and groups throughout time. In making these stereotypes we forget about the true character of the individual or group. Somehow throughout time what we have gathered and decided through stereotypes has created the everlasting image we have of one another, it's been hard to change the viewpoint ever since. Through the reading of this article and attaining continuous information of the harm of stereotypes are placing in our world we can start to move away from these unfortunate depictions.
The next example is in the story, after you my dear alphonse. In this story a boy becomes friends with an African American boy named Boyd and brings him home for lunch, when he gets home his mother is shocked to see her son with this boy. The mother assumes that the father works hard labor in the fields and that the boy will grow up and do the same. But that?s not the case, the boys father works in a factory. This is an example of discrimination because the mother assumes things just because he is black.
The short story 'Identities' by W.D. is an excellent example of how society tends to judge and stereotype others based on their appearances and where they come from.
An example of experience forming prejudice could be seen in peoples feeling about Pitbulls. The Pitbull is not born aggressive and violent to people or other animals but turns this way when it get of abused, neglected or trained by people to be aggressive. But people put them in the savage beast category because a few abused, neglected or trained to be aggressive Pitbulls went haywire and harmed someone
More specifically, whenever a group making policy displays most of the symptoms of Groupthink then "we can expect to find that the group also displays symptoms of defective decision-making. Seven such examples are as Janis states:

In this essay I talk about three stereotypes that I feel are the most major ones. The three I talk about are gender, race, and what class or sport a student is associated with. These three are the most important because these are the ones that you can not control. You should not be stereotyped on who you are.
Discuss three stereotypes you encounter in your own life and the effect those stereotypes can have on others. This can be a stereotype you realize you have been guilty of holding or someone else's. Explain (a) what the stereotype is and (b) what sort of argument, no matter how flawed, might be used to support it, and (c) identify any mistakes you find in that argument.
The first example of how hasty decisions can have consequences is through the exile of Romeo. Romeo’s exile came after he stated, “This shall determine that” (Shakespeare 3.1 138) This quote
The last mistake is failing to correct for skewed vision, in fact many people tend to interpret information for their own interests. A self-serving role bias on the
