In Romeo and Juliet and in life, hasty decisions can heavily affect the outcome of the story and your life. In William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, hasty decisions heavily affect the tragic outcome of the play. One of Shakespeare's most famous plays, Romeo and Juliet is a play about two star-crossed lovers who will go through anything to be with each other. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare reveals how hasty decisions can lead to catastrophe through events such as Romeo’s exile, Tybalt’s death, and the two star-crossed lover’s death. The first example of how hasty decisions can have consequences is through the exile of Romeo. This quote reveals the theme of hasty decisions in Romeo and Juliet as the hasty decision by Tybalt to fight Romeo led to his own death. Although the death of Tybalt was sad, the death of another two characters completely changed the outcome of the play. The last example of how hasty decisions can lead to catastrophe is through the death of the two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. While being forced to marry Paris, Juliet is planning to run away with Romeo to Mantua. While talking Juliet says, “Give me, give me! O, tell not me of fear!” (Shakespeare 4.1 123) This quote comes after Friar Lawrence tells Juliet of a plan to fake her death. She immediately agrees without even thinking of the consequences. This hasty decision to forever be with Romeo will come back to haunt her. While she is under the spell Romeo sees Juliet and immediately kills himself while saying, “Here’s to my love! O true apothecary, Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die.” (Shakespeare 5.3 119-120) This quote shows without even thinking Romeo hastily kills himself.
