From a very young, becoming a veterinarian has been a dream of mine. The love of animals coupled with the thought of helping those animals through suffering and having the opportunity to actually save one's life has been a motivator for the future. A veterinarian changes an animal’s life in more ways than one. They care for the health of animals. Veterinarians are also able to diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of not just pets but also livestock and wildlife ("Summary" U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). My initial interest in veterinary medicine began during my childhood when I developed responsibility in providing care for all animals. I had hands on experiences when exercising proper herd health techniques with our veterinarian for our cow/calf operation. I learned how to vaccinate, create a balanced nutritional diet, and prepare for each calving season. I also became fascinated with the human-animal bond when training a Leader Dog for the Blind and showing livestock around the state of Indiana. My experiences with having a connection with animals and taking care of them encouraged me to further investigate the veterinary profession.
A British actress named Hannah Murray once said, “I really loved animals when I was little - my friend and I had an imaginary vet 's office; we would mime doing surgery on animals. We treated more injuries than illnesses - fixing with a baby bear with a broken leg, removing a tumor. Of course, our surgeries would take about five seconds; that 's how good we were.” As far back as one girl can remember, she always had a pet of some kind. She currently has a pet dog, and she became sick, and would have seizures. When her mom and took her to the Vet’s office, she remembers how the doctor saved her dog’s life and how grateful she and her mother were to not lose a member of our family. There are many different careers in the world to choose from. From doctors to engineers to teachers, etc. In the medical field, it is way more than just surgeons and physicians. There are a whole bunch of careers that are not related to that. For our assignment, we were told to pick three careers where only one can be doctor related and the other two somewhere else in the medical field. Of course, with me being who I am, I chose the career of a veterinarian. A veterinarian is the physicians for animals. Their job is to care and help provide health for any sick animals. Most do perform surgeries like spays and neuters. Not only do they treat illness, but also provide any needed information to the pet owners about responsible animal guard ship.

I want to go into the practice of Veterinary Medicine. I want to do this because I have previous experience from breeding, caring, and selling dogs and cats since the age of 13. Another reason that want to do this is because animals don’t have a voice and people have to step up for them. I also have previous experience from doing a few things with my vet. What you do is you do general check-ups, euthanise animals, administer medication, care for injuries, also perform surgery when it is necessary, and perform other miscellaneous tasks .
