CASA
CASA is a nonprofit that is based off of volunteer advocates who stand up for the well-being of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. The CASA volunteers are there to ensure that every foster child’s needs remain a priority in an overburdened child welfare system while searching for a safe and permanent home for the child. CASA volunteers work together with attorneys and social workers to come up with the overall best solution for the foster child. In order to do this the CASA volunteer will conduct interviews with the parents, family members, teachers, and doctors to gather information on the child. Based off of the information gathered by the CASA volunteer they will make recommendations to the

Volunteer Center of Lubbock The Volunteer Center of Lubbock overall purpose is to inspire and engage the community of Lubbock by helping the people find their purpose and to act on it by volunteering. The nonprofit was established in 1990 in order to connect volunteers with the needs of the community. The organization also provides nonprofit management assistance to local nonprofit organizations. The Volunteer Center of Lubbock has formed relationships with over 100 agencies. They have also partnered with 40 middle and high schools in the area. The organization believes that a more engaged community has the potential to transform the world. I am interested in the programs and events internship position for the Volunteer Center of Lubbock. The position requires you to organize workshops, youth events, and even a golf tournament to promote volunteering in the area. I connect with this organization because I feel very strongly about volunteering, I think that everyone should donate their time to help others when they can. To prepare for an interview with the Volunteer Center of Lubbock I would look up and do some research on the companies they have partnerships with. This would make me look knowledgeable in the interview because when they ask me questions I would be able to give them examples using the
To address the emotional and physical needs faced by children in foster care and their caretakers, the Amarillo Angels organization seeks to provide gifts and hope for foster families through its services.1 Hundreds of thousands of children are in foster care across the United States, and the average child in the foster care system spends over a year in foster care.2 The state of Texas faces a foster care crisis in which not enough family placements are available to meet the needs of an abundance of children in foster care.3 Locally, agencies in Amarillo must often send foster children needing placements to other counties or states.4 While foster parents receive some financial reimbursement to provide for the children placed in their
CASA is a nonprofit organization focused on helping the lives of abused or neglected children in foster care. The purpose of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is the help choose what is best for a child, and to act as a voice for their child in court. Volunteers are trained and appointed by a court official to a child in need. Then, a volunteer will independently visit and interact with their child in hopes of getting to know their situation from their point of view. Then after gathering information, the volunteer is then able to go to a judge and make recommendations on what is in the best interest of the child.
The Foster Care System with the kids who are in it is a massive social issue that America is facing today. There are more than 640,000 foster children in the United States every year. There are 23,000 foster children living in group homes at one time. There are 32,000 who live in institutions, and twenty-seven states do not meet federal abuse and neglect standards. (Attention) Personally, I am a foster sister, because my family currently fosters. Therefore, we see the issues and needs of fostering, daily. (Rapport and Credibility) This speech will discuss the importance of the nature of foster care, the catastrophic problems of foster care, and the proposed solution for the foster care system in America. Raising children is one of the most important responsibilities in any society. Today, working parents have many options, but what about those children who have neither a mother nor father? What about those children who come from broken and abusive homes? In such cases there are often few choices. Parentless children may be placed in orphanages or in foster homes. Ideally, foster care offers children more personalized attention than would normally be available at a public or private situation. However, orphanage care is notoriously uneven. While some children are indeed in loving homes, others find themselves neglected or
Furthermore, Foster care is a system in which a minor has been placed into a ward, group home, or private home of a state-certified caregiver referred to as a "foster parent". The placement of the child is usually arranged through the government or a social-service agency. The system is not all what it is said to be, the system is to be a safe place for comfort but instead they place these children with strangers who do as they please. The reality of it is many are ripped from their homes and put in in a never ending nightmare.
According to Mandy Zalich, who is the director for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a foster
Most of the times children are taken from their home because of them not living in a safe and healthy environment. They might have been in an environment where they were abused or neglected. They are then placed into a Foster Home, which is usually appointed by the court. However, the children are then adopted into loving, caring homes where they become part of a family and live a normal life so that they can strive and meet their full potentials as well as being comfortable and happy. Nevertheless, this is where the Adoption Agencies step in, like American Adoption. It is their responsibility to ensure that they find the perfect home for the child or children that are in need of a stable, loving, caring and nurturing home. (American Adoption,

When visiting with Lisa Cahill, she expressed that The Arc Idaho doesn’t have a problem with retaining its volunteers once they get them; it’s attracting volunteers that The Arc Idaho struggles with the most. The “original” needs for the project included: researching how other local nonprofits attract volunteers and developing a survey to be used to research how other nonprofits manage volunteers (how they recruit, do they have a formal Volunteer Management Plan, how do they recognize volunteers,
My first introduction to Foster Care was when I watched an advertisement that showed foster children who looked lonely and neglected. The message of the advertisement was to donate any spare clothes and food that one had. The first time I saw this advertisement I was very young and did not understand the concept of being an orphan. I asked my parents why these children were on television and why it was asking for donations. My parents explained to me that there were children in the world that lost their parents or their parents did not want them. I became more aware about children living in these kind of conditions and have heard of people actually having foster homes. My knowledge of foster homes is that the child protection services give a child to a certified person who can give care to this child. I have also learned that foster care may be used for children whose parents are having issues. The child being somewhere safe would allow the parents to solve the problems they have between themselves.
In Case Management we talk and put a lot of stress on the “at-risk” population. The term ‘at risk’ in this references to the six most at risk population that case managers as well as social workers have to help in their profession. Refers to populations of people who, because of certain circumstances in their life, will be more likely to experience a problem/challenge related to adjustment and functioning. And these problems will interfere with their ability to reach their full potential. Foster Care children are one of the “at-risk” populations. Many children and young adults have been placed under a foster care system. Foster care is the term used for a system in which a minor has been placed into a ward, group home, or private home of a state certified caregiver known as a “foster parent". The placement of the child is usually arranged through the government or a social service agency. It can happen in many different ways, a social worker could be called about a situation that requires them to investigate a family and the child at risk. If the said child or youth is in school then the person who called the agency could have been the teacher or counselor. Neighbors are also people that call the child social word offices because they see abuse happening right outside their homes and feel that they need to report this. It 's terrifying to think how one day someone could be with their parents having a normal life, then the next day or even moment all of a sudden that
As a ministry of Chilhowee Baptist Association, they use the resources that God has blessed them with to further His kingdom. Camp staff provides facilities, programming, resources, and mission opportunities for groups and individuals. They are dedicated to sharing Christ in and around Blount County, Tennessee, through summer day camps, mission camps, home repair, and community service. Camp organizers are always looking for new opportunities to serve the needs of local churches, visiting mission teams, and the community. Think about the opportunities there would be to pour into others, if only people created more camps or charities. There would be many people/children’s lives that could be changed by the positive influence.
Foster care is a way of providing a family life in a safe and nurturing environment for children for a temporary period. Becoming a foster parent takes commitment and grit. These potential parents need to understand these children have lost everything. They have lost their parents, brothers, sisters, friends, pet…their world has been turned upside down. These kids may not enter their new homes with smiles and hugs. Instead, they may feel unsure, standoffish, and they want their mommy.
