Animal testing is crucial because without it, scientists might never find developments for biomedical research. Worldwide, there are millions of diseases that create devastation in countless families. However, there are vaccines, cures, and processes that scientists have came up with to help fix this problem. This policy made it so that families could only have one child. However, the one-child policy has been called into question by many people around the world.

In the book The Scarlet Letter Hester Prynne commits the sin of adultery, but she has been forgiven and redeemed in the eyes of god for her sin through various means. While Hester was in the wood with Dimmesdale there were many signs that god had forgave Hester for her sin. They provide a source to get information scientists can not get without harming humans. A lot of debate is spread about whether it is good or bad. Animal experimentation is a controversial topic because it is helpful to humans, but it is also cruel and inhumane.

Thanks to animal research, many diseases that once killed millions of people are now either treatable or curable. Animal testing has not only benefit humans, but animals as well. Some animal testing has lead to life saving and life extending treatments for many of the animals used for testing. A complete alternative to animal testing has yet to be discovered.

There is humane ways to do research. Such as the In Vitro method. This method uses a system that mimics the structure and function of the human organs and organ system. This can be used in disease research, drug testing, and cosmetics. It also allows for cancer screening, and to test new surgical operations. Scientists are developing new cell and tissue tests. This alternative is less costly and way more reliable than using animal tests. In 2004 there was an arthritis drug called Vioxx that was tested on animals. In discussion of animal rights, one controversial issue has been whether or not animals should be use for medical testing. On the one hand, some scientists argue that animal testing has contributed for many cures and treatments. On the other hand, animal rights activist contends that alternative methods now exist that can replace the need for animals. Others even maintain that animal testing is an essential part in medical research. My own view is that animals should not be used in medical testing because is no longer necessary now there are methods that are safer and have better results than animals do.

Scientists also use animals to test the toxicity of the vaccines. Animal testing may come off as a rather harsh and inhumane form of study when heard about , but without it, global diseases would be spreading faster and possibly everyone will be infected. Nearly every Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine since 1901 relied on the information based off of animal research. Since animal testing has been used for research purposes many diseases have been cured and are no longer existent and if not cured then the disease is close to being cured.

As you can see with these examples, it is absolutely necessary to use animals in research; for diseases that currently exist and for the ones yet to be discovered. There is no doubt that using animals to test products and to develop lifesaving medications and surgical procedures have improved our quality of life

The modern era of animal research started about 150 years ago with the rise of physiology as a science. Today, fruit flies and mice are the most common test subjects used for animal testing. About 50 to 100 million vertebrate and invertebrate animals are used around the world every year. The source of the animals varies depending on the species of the animal and the country where the experimentation is taking place. Most animals used for experiments are bred for this purpose. Animals are used for experiments inside universities, medical schools, farms, large companies and other places that provide animal-testing services. It has been proven that almost every medical discovery in the 20th century and even up to this century used animals in some way. Many scientists reaffirm that even complex computers cannot model connections between molecules, cells, tissues, organs, organisms and the environment.

Scientists have been able to advance the knowledge of human, animal health, and disease dramatically by conducting tests on model organisms(Yourgenome.org np). Antibiotics, insulin, vaccines, organ transplantation and HIV are treatments that have all been developed with the help of animal testing we can increase someone's life span.The harm that is committed against animals should not be minimized because they are not considered to be human and of lesser value than us. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is the voice of animals all over the world.

Animal testing has been happening for decades. It has lead to medical discoveries such as the discovery of penicillin. It seems vital. However, there have been many technological advances during the past years that have as much accuracy as animal testing. While some believe that animal research is vital, it shouldn’t be continued because technological simulations can replace animal testing and most animal experiments taking place now don’t improve human health.

In 2014 767,622 animals were used for medical research. Without these animals to test on we would have had to test on other human beings. Who would you rather test on, a rat, or a loved one? Medical animal testing is needed to keep moving forward in the medical fields and to keep our society strong.
