Animals are thought of sweet loving pets that are cared for. People never think about what goes on in the outside world and what people do to animals. Animals are getting tested on everyday and they are losing their lives because of animal testing. Animal testing is taking an animal and testing all different products including beauty products, medicine and many more. Laboratory animals are almost tortured to death to extract information for the ultimate welfare of the human beings, us doing tests on these animals for our benefits is completely justifiable as humans it is our responsibility to treat them well.
Animal testing is very wrong and upsetting because all these animals are losing their lives so produces can be safer for us. There
To begin with, why is it done? Animal testing is done to protect humans from bad products that may hurt them, also to find ways to cure diseases that haven’t been cure yet. 95 percent of mice and rats are used for research. Mice represented the largest increase in research with their numbers going from 1.2 million to nearly 1.9 million in that period. Other animals also saw increases (Qtd animal experiment up to 73 percent, study says). Other animals that are used in research are rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, farm animals, fish, and insects, and also less than one percent cats, and dog’s area also used for research. Another reason is to treat injuries and learn more about the animal bodies to find the similarity to the human body (qtd. animal research). Animal testing is inhumane when testing to protect humans. Some people say testing on animals are life changing experiments and with the help of animal experiment can discover blood transfusion, kidney dialysis, and gene therapy for example cystic fibrosis and types of cancer( Coster 7). Others think experimenting on animal is cruel and they suffer a lot. It is true
Animal testing is a common practice in current life that is necessary to ensure the safety of the humans that will be using the tested product. There are many good and bad aspects of animal testing, but the pros clearly outweigh the cons. Animal testing has been around since ancient times when animals were dissected to gain knowledge about the body and organs. The animals killed from animal testing make up a tiny percentage of the total animals killed every year. When just considering the animals used for food compared to the animals used for testing, testing animals make up a mere 2.6 percent of that number. Public safety far outweighs the lives of the small amount of animals killed.
Animal testing has its benefits towards human health. Improvement in health of the human race involves animal testing. Cancer, asthma, polio, TB, meningitis, smallpox, and the human papilloma virus (HPV) all have treatments that have come from animal testing. As a result of animal testing many people would be dying or suffering from the disease. Although, many people believe animals should not be used for animal testing.
First, animal testing is very harmful to animals. 100 million animals are harmed or killed because of testing. For example, the poor animals are given painful tests until they are not needed any more or eventually die. Just because they don't test things on humans, doesn’t mean that they should be doing it to animals. Animals testing is harmful to innocent animals.
Everyday animals are being locked up in cages and are being tested on. Animals in laboratories do not provide reliable results in human beings, and are going through cruel and inhumane tests. There are also alternative methods that replace the need for the animals. Testing animals has contributed to many life savings cures and treatments, along with animals themselves benefiting from the results of the testing. Animals are also similar to humans in many ways and are appropriate test subjects. Animal testing needs to stop because every year 100 million animals die. The animals have no say in this treatment being done to them. Animals cannot be tested in a variety of human procedures despite what the benefits are.
Animal testing is wrong for various reasons. The history of animal testing goes back to the writings of the ancient Greeks and is defined as any scientific experiment or test in which a live animal is forced to undergo something that is likely to cause them pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm. Examples of animal testing include: forcing mice and rats to inhale toxic fumes, force-feeding dog’s pesticides, and dripping chemicals into rabbits’ eyes. Although, many people believe that animal testing has contributed to many life-saving cures and treatments, innocent animals used in laboratories are deliberately harmed, for a company’s benefit, and are usually killed at the end of the experiment. Animal testing has negative effects on not only animals, but on society and the economy. Some reasons why include, but are not limited to: alternative methods exist that are safer, ethical, and cheaper; billions of dollars are wasted each year on animal testing because neither the corporations nor the customers are benefiting from it; and just because the product is tested for animals, it does not necessarily make it safe for humans. Therefore, because animal testing is unreliable, leads to billions of wasted dollars, and causes an incredible amount of animal suffering, we must begin to use alternative methods and raise awareness about this huge issue.
Many people believe that animal testing is a necessary thing that has to happen to help the human race. Others think that it doesn't cause much harm and turn a blind eye. That is not true testing on animals is harmful to the economy, to humans and to the animals involved.
For decades now animal testing has been a known method in society. The downside of the reality is society is not fully aware of what is going on behind closed doors, and the severity of what animal testing truly is. Although there have been many points where animal testing has proven to help in certain studies, it is also proven to be unnecessary. Biomedical industries are looking for the next cure or the safest makeup for example, but the process of it all is wrong. There are millions of animals yearly being put through suffering and cruel conditions with no break or recovery time. There is no way to actually see results in such a vigorous treatment. These animals are sick and abused daily for long periods of time and to think that any living
Animal Experimentation has been used for thousands of years from early Greeks to modern day physicians. Animal Experimentation is not only beneficial in gaining knowledge on diseases, but can also help to discover cures.
Growing up I learned that everything was created with love. Humans, plants, animals, all living things were put in this world for a purpose. One of these things that breathes life into this world are animals. Growing up I learned about animals in class, and grew an interest for them. Their shape, their features, the different actions and skills that each animal has. Animals are all unique in their own way. But, we tend to use these animals. If they are not pets, or considered as pets then humans take the advantage of using them. They are used for things such as clothes, shoes, purses, and many other different things that we use every day. Animal testing is one of the worst things that humans partake in against these
Animal testing has been an occurrence since 500 B.C. and has become worldwide. In China, it is the law to have all cosmetics animal tested before selling. This makes for 300,000 animals tested through cosmetics every year. Although some people find this very cruel, animal testing is actually very humane and necessary for effective products.
Is the death of over 100 million animals yearly, who were slaughtered and exploited in animal testing, really worth the human benefits? Animal experimentation is the use of dogs, cats, monkeys, mice, etc., to test the toxicity of new medications or the safety of a product that will be used on humans under study. Only 5% of animal test subjects nationwide are protected by laws such as the Animal Welfare Act, which is a federal law that addresses the standard of care animals receive at research facilities (“Animal Testing and the Law”). Therefore, animals should not be used in scientific and commercial testing when the procedure is erroneous, has superior alternative methods, and is inhumane.
Animal testing is a real result of pure fatality. Almost 87% of animals tested are selected randomly, many problems are that we are funding and basically supporting animal testing. More than half of the animals tested are killed during experiments (Human Society International). The animals tested alive are conscious while the test is being distributed to their bodies. Most research is often very poor, testing selfless animals for no reason at all! The testing would make more sense if the animals were at least being treated well and taken care of right during, before, and after the
Not only does animal testing benefit humans, but it also benefits other animals as well. While practicing animal testing on other animals, it has given the medical knowledge to veterinarians in knowing how to treat an animal with what medication or just physical assistance. The National Association for Biomedical Research wrote that “Last year, Americans spent $60B on their pets, much of it on pet health care. It is imperative every pet owner understands that without animal research their pets wouldn’t benefit from new veterinary treatments for cancer, new vaccines for emerging diseases, and the best possible nutrition available. Thanks to animal research our pets live longer and healthier lives than ever before” (NABR 2017). People who are
Animal experimentation is essential to form new medicines and advance in scientific knowledge. Animal testing first starred in the 19th century and has been going on ever since. It started because British wanted to make a chemical drugs and it needed to be tested on animals. For the safety of not taking people's lives. Without animal research there will probably not be any cures for disease. Animal testing on mice have helped find a cure for polio which was a deadly disease. Animal testing is essential to form new medicines and advance in scientific knowledge and for cosmetics use.
