The first thing I would do when noticing that a member of staff is not complying with health and safety procedure is to stop the dangerous practise right away. How I would then act would depend on what the person was doing.
I may stop the individual and show them the correct way to complete the task in a safe way, explaining what I am doing and the reason that it is done this way.

I have built a rapport with the individuals that I support and feel that they take my advice/guidance into consideration and understand that I don’t want to prevent them from doing things and making their own choices. I feel this has helped when supporting individuals in managing risk, being able to work together to find a way for the individual to take full part in the activity/task while still doing everything we can to ensure safety to the individual and those around them.
