Let the original weight of M’s suitcase be $x$ kg

  $x-5>22$

  $x>27$ (Original weight of suitcase was more than 27kg)

Explanation of Solution

Given information:

M removed 5kg item from her suitcase but it still weighted more than 22kg.

Calculation:

Let the original weight of M’s suitcase be $x$ kg

When 5kg item is removed from the suitcase then new weight becomes $x-5$ kg

It is given that M removed 5kg item from her suitcase but it still weighted more than 22kg.

So the inequality becomes:-

  $x-5>22$

On adding 5 on both sides

  $x-5+5>22+5$

Hence,

  $x>27$

So the original weight of the suitcase was more than 27 kg.
