  r=asinθ+bcosθab0r=a(yr)+b(xr)r2=ay+bxx2+y2=ay+bx[r2=x2+y2]x2bx+y2ay=0(x2bx+b24)+(y2ay+a24)=a24+b24(xb2)2+(ya2)2=a24+b24

So, on comparing the simplified equation with (xh)2+(yk)2=r2 , get that it is polar equation of the circle.

Compared it with (xh)2+(yk)2=r2 whose centre and radius are given as:

  c=(h,k)r2=a2+b2

So, the centre and radius of (xb2)2+(ya2)2=a24+b24 is calculated as:

The centre is: c=(h,k)=(a2,b2)

Radius:

  r2=a24+b24r=a24+b24r=12a2+b2
