To determine equation whose graph opens wider than that of $y=x^2$ .

  $y=\left(0.5\right)x^2$

Explanation of Solution

We know that the equation of the parabola is in the form $y=a{x}^2$

Here higher the value of $a$ , narrower the graph will be. And when the value of $a$ decreases, the graph of the parabola becomes wider.

Hence the equation that opens wider than $y=x^2$ is,

(Take any value of $a$ less than 1 and greater than -1)

  $y=\left(0.5\right)x^2$
