Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

An object revolving in a circular motion has two velocities angular velocity and linear velocity. Angular velocity along the axis of revolution and linear velocity is along the tangent to the circumference of the circle. This linear velocity is also known as tangential velocity.

Person A is riding a merry go round and his friend is standing on a ground. When a key is tossed by person A, it moves in forward direction with a linear velocity that is along the tangent to the merry-go-round circumference. So for a friend to catch the key, it should be tossed a second or two before the spot, where friend is standing, instead of waiting.
