Concept explainers
Whether the water flows out per second from the downstairs faucet will be more or same.
Answer to Problem 5TE
The water flow per second is more for downstairs faucet than upstairs faucet due to the less size and lower position of the downstairs faucet.
Explanation of Solution
The flow of the liquid depends on the size and speed of the device. If the size becomes more, then the speed of the liquid becomes less and speed becomes high for the less size.
The size of the upstairs faucet is more than the size of the downstairs faucet, so the water covers less distance in the downstairs faucet and the water flow is faster in downstairs faucet than upstairs faucet.
The position of the downstairs faucet is below the upstairs faucet, so the effect of gravity on the water is more in downstairs faucet than the upstairs faucet and water flow per second become more in the downstairs faucet.
Conclusion:
Therefore, the water flow per second is more for downstairs faucet than upstairs faucet due to the less size and lower position of the downstairs faucet.
