ODBC:

ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) is known as an open standard API (Application Programming Interface) used to access the database using application programs.

  • It allows the programmers to instruct different DBMS products which use ODBC statements.
  • These instructions are translated into the API using “ODBC driver” for particular DBMS product.
  • It includes two types of drivers. They are:
    • Multiple-tier driver
    • Single-tier driver
