Concept explainers
To write:
About the phospholipids biosynthesis substrates which is soluble in water and yet the end products are not.
About the incorporation of the site immediately of the phospholipids that is newly synthesized which is the cytosolic leaflet of the ER membrane even though the phospholipids must be incorporated into both leaflets.
About the membranes like plasma membrane in the cell that are unable to synthesize the phospholipids on their own, even though the membranes must have to expand if the cell grows and then divides.
Introduction:
When a class of lipids contains two molecules of fatty acyl that is esterified at positions of sn-1 and sn-2 of glycerol it is known as phospholipids. It also has a head group which gets connected with the sn-3 position by the phosphate residue. The region of hydrophilic is formed by the head group which also helps in determining the phospholipid type. The side chains of the fatty acyl are hydrophobic in nature. And the phospholipids play an important role in the membranes of biology.
