Answer to Problem 21R

A bottle containing fruit juice gets warm on shaking it vigorously.

Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

When an object moves, it contains some energy. And thus it participates in work done. If an object does some work then it emit energy also. The temperature of moving object becomes higher than a stationary object because of work done.

When a person shake a bottle of fruit juice, the particle of the juice comes into motion and thus contains kinetic energy which is comes from force applied by the person. This kinetic energy creates motion of particles and thus the work has been done by the particles. Any work done always results some heat which is emitted by the object through which the work is carried out. And so the juice becomes warm on shaking vigorously.

Conclusion:

Hence, the bottle containing fruit juice gets warm on shaking it vigorously.
