Chapter 51, Problem 10TY
Summary Introduction
Introduction: Labor is marked by the strong uterine muscle contractions. This is initiated by the binding of oxytocin to its receptors. The oxytocin stimulates uterine secretion of small molecules called prostaglandins that act with oxytocin and increase the strength of the muscle contractions. The release of oxytocin continues until the baby is born.
