Explanation of Solution

Given:

Two jets leave at 9:00 A.M.

Speed of the jet flying in the east direction has the speed 50 kmph more than the jet flying in the west direction.

At 11:00 A.M. the distance between the jets is 2500 km

Calculation:

Let the speed of the jet flying in west direction = $x$

Let the speed of the jet flying in east direction = $x+50$

	$\text{Speed}\times \text{Time = Distance}$
East	$x+50$	2	$2\left(x+50\right)=2x+100$
West	$x$	$2$	$2x$

After 2 hours total distance between the jets = 2500 km

  $\begin{array}{l}\left(2x+100\right)+2x=2500\\ 4x+100=2500\\ 4x=2400\\ x=\frac{2400}{4}\\ x=600\end{array}$

Speed of the jet flying east direction

  $\begin{array}{l}x+50\\ 600+50\\ 650\end{array}$

Now speed of both the jets are 650 kmph & 600 kmph
