Question
Chapter 42.4, Problem 1R
Summary Introduction
To review:
The events taking place in the ovary that is responsible for the onset of menses and its prevention if the pregnancy occurs.
Introduction:
The events that occur in the female reproductive system are much more complex in comparison to the male reproductive system. The cyclical changes occur in both ovaries as well as in the uterus, which is linked to each other in order to receive the zygote (cell formed after the fertilization of the egg with the sperm). The ovarian cycle results in the production of eggs and hormones, whereas the uterine cycle is responsible for the preparation of the endometrium (inner epithelial lining of the uterus) for the arrival of a fertilized egg.
