Chapter 4, Problem 4.36P
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

To find the quantity of heat added to the reactor per mole of product gas.

Concept Introduction:

The Enthalpy change of product stream is given as

ΔHP=R×ICPH(T,T0,A,B,C,D)

Where

ICPH(T,T0,A,B,C,D)=A.T0(τ1)+B2T02(τ21)+C3T03(τ31)+DT0(τ1τ)

A,B,C,D are constants

T0 = Initial temperature

T = Final temperature

R = Universal Gas Constant = 8.314 J/mol K

τ=TTO

ΔHR = Change of enthalpy of Reactants stream

ΔH298 = Standard enthalpy at 298K

ΔHP = Change of enthalpy of Products stream

Total change in enthalpy = ΔH

Heat transferred = Q

Q=(ΔHR+ΔH298+ΔHP)
