Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation: The milligrams of the active pharmaceutical ingredient and the volume of the adult dose and that for a child are given. The concentration of adult does in milligrams per millilitre and the volume of adult dose needed to make $100\text{mL}$ of child-strength cough syrup are to be calculated.

Concept introduction: The concentration in $\text{mg}/\text{mL}$ is calculated by the formula,

$\text{Concentration}=\frac{\text{Mass}\text{in}\text{milligram}}{\text{Volume}\text{in}\text{milliter}}$

To determine: The concentration of adult does in milligrams per millilitre and the volume of adult dose needed to make $100\text{mL}$ of child-strength cough syrup.
