Perpetual Inventory System:
The perpetual inventory system is a method of accounting for inventories where every purchase is accounted for as merchandise inventory. After every movement in inventory either due to purchase or sale, inventory balance is determined.
Under the gross method, no separate discount account is maintained for purchase discounts. Rather the discount at the time of settlement is adjusted itself through the inventory account.
