Answer to Problem 1RD

The first important difference between terrestrial planet and Jovian planet is that Terrestrial planet are near to sun while Jovian are far from sun, second difference is that terrestrial planets have small masses while Jovians have large masses and the third difference is that the terrestrial planets are solids while the Jovian planets are gaseous.

Explanation of Solution

The larger and the outer planets of the solar system are called jovian planets, and planets which are at inner side of the solar system are called terrestrial planets.

The three important difference between the jovian and terrestrial planets are.

Terrestrial planetJovian planet
The terrestrial planets lie near to the Sun.The jovian planet lie far from the Sun.
The terrestrial planets are of small masses and small radius. The jovian planets are large in masses and larger in the radius.
The surface of the terrestrial planet is predominately solidThe surface of the jovian planet is gaseous.

Thus, The first important difference between terrestrial planet and Jovian planet is that Terrestrial planet are near to sun while Jovian are far from sun, second difference is that terrestrial planets have small masses while Jovians have large masses and the third difference is that the terrestrial planets are solids while the Jovian planets are gaseous.
