Concept introduction:
Some of the bacterial infections can be treated and prevented by antibiotics. Food-to-drug interaction and drug-to-drug interactions are the common issues that affect the efficiency of antibiotic therapy. If an extra dosage of antibiotic is taken accidentally, it might not result in serious illness. However, it will cause side effects such as pain in stomach and diarrhea.
Conditions or factors that adversely affect the result of antibiotic therapy are age, kidney and liver functions, history of drug allergies (most important), genetics characteristics, pregnancy, infection site, and the host defense.
